Thapelo Mokoena’s Wimbledon Experience
South African actor and entrepreneur Thapelo Mokoena enjoyed an unforgettable Wimbledon experience after being invited by Stella Artois, the Official Beer Partner of The Championships, to London for a celebration of sport, culture, fashion, and world-class hospitality.
The exclusive journey showcased the very best of British tradition while highlighting South African creativity on the international stage. Staying at the stylish The Standard, King’s Cross, Mokoena attended rooftop events, intimate gatherings, and enjoyed exclusive access to the Perfect Serve Lounge before heading to the prestigious All England Club for premium hospitality, gourmet dining, and the iconic Wimbledon afternoon tea experience.

Joining him in London were fellow South African creatives and Neimil co-founders Keneilwe Mothoa and Lubabalo Mxalisa. Their reunion followed the recent Johannesburg launch of the limited-edition Stella Artois White Can, inspired by Wimbledon’s famous all-white tradition, further celebrating South African design and innovation on a global platform.
The highlight of the trip came at Outernet London, where Stella Artois hosted its invitation-only global event, Let’s Do Dinner, often referred to as The World’s Most Fascinating Dinner. The exclusive gathering brought together influential figures from sport, entertainment, and culture.

During the evening, Mokoena and the Neimil founders mingled with international personalities including tennis legends Andy Murray and Maria Sharapova, actor Theo James, known for Netflix’s The Gentlemen, and singer Natasha Bedingfield, whose hit Unwritten remains a global favourite.

Adding to the South African pride, global music star Lloyiso opened the evening with a soulful performance that captivated guests and earned a standing ovation, proudly showcasing South African musical talent on one of London’s most prestigious stages.

Reflecting on the experience, Mokoena described Wimbledon as the perfect blend of style and tradition.
“London and Wimbledon represent the pinnacle of style and tradition, so to experience it through Stella Artois was something truly special. Sharing the journey alongside Keneilwe and Lubabalo made it even more meaningful. Ending the week at Let’s Do Dinner and watching Lloyiso perform reminded me that the most memorable moments are created around the table, where genuine conversations and lasting friendships begin.”
Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand at Stella Artois South Africa, said the journey perfectly reflected the brand’s global philosophy of celebrating craftsmanship, culture, and meaningful human connection.

Although the London celebrations have concluded, South Africans will soon have the opportunity to enjoy a Wimbledon-inspired experience closer to home. The Soiree by Stella Artois – Tennis Edition returns on 11 July 2026 at James & Ethel Gray Park in Johannesburg, featuring performances by Thandiswa Mazwai, Bongeziwe Mabandla, Shekhinah, Thando Zide, and more.
The event promises an elegant celebration inspired by the spirit of Wimbledon, bringing together music, culture, fashion, and unforgettable moments that embody Stella Artois‘ philosophy that life’s finest experiences are always Worth More.
