Our Experience at the 340ml Tour in Johannesburg

A Night of Nostalgia and Unforgettable Music

On Saturday, 15 March 2025, Urban Lifestyle had the privilege of attending the highly anticipated 340ml Tour in Johannesburg. After a 15-year hiatus, the iconic Mozambican band 340ml reunited for a one-of-a-kind concert, bringing a wave of nostalgia and mixed emotions to fans.

Before the main act took the stage, the night kicked off with electrifying sets from DJ Akio, DJ Kenzhero, and other talented DJs, setting the perfect tone for the evening. The anticipation in the air was undeniable as fans eagerly awaited the return of 340ml.

Stogie T & Thandiswa Mazwai: A Short but Powerful Performance

A major highlight of the night was the special guest performances by Stogie T and Thandiswa Mazwai. Although both artists only performed three songs each with the band, their presence added an extra layer of excitement. However, it left the crowd wanting more—many fans, including us, hoped for an extended collaboration between the two powerhouse artists and 340ml.

The Main Set: A Celebration of 340ml’s Legacy

For two hours, 340ml took us on a musical journey, performing classic tracks from their previous albums while also teasing songs from an upcoming release. The band’s signature fusion of dub, jazz, and Afrobeat was a reminder of why they remain so influential in the alternative music scene. The energy, the passion, and the sheer joy of seeing them live again made this a truly unrepeatable experience.

A Call for a Tumi and The Volume Reunion

One of the most exciting moments of the night was Stogie T’s involvement. Long-time fans will remember that before he became Stogie T, Tumi Molekane was the frontman of Tumi and The Volume, which featured three members of 340ml—lead guitarist Tiago Correia-Paul, bass guitarist David Bergman, and drummer Paulo Chibanga.

Seeing them perform together sparked a longing for a full-fledged Tumi and The Volume reunion tour. The chemistry was undeniable, and it left us wondering—could this be the start of something bigger?

If you missed this show, you might never get another opportunity to witness 340ml in action like this again. It was truly a once-in-a-lifetime concert, and we’re grateful to have been part of it.
