South African Amapiano has never been just about the dancefloor. Beyond the log drums, infectious basslines and viral dance challenges, the genre has become a space where artists tell stories about everyday life, relationships, ambition and the realities of growing up in South Africa.
For producer and DJ Trechyson Molly vx, that storytelling takes centre stage on his latest seven-track EP, Ke Nna. Meaning “It’s Me” in Setswana, the project offers something more personal than a follow-up to a successful single. It is an opportunity for the North West-born producer to introduce the experiences, emotions and memories behind the music.
And after a remarkable breakthrough, he has plenty of reasons to make that introduction count.
From asking life’s questions to sharing his own answers
Trechyson enters this new chapter following the success of Botshelo Ke Eng, a single that achieved five No. 1 chart positions across major South African music platforms and radio.
The record topped Spotify South Africa, the Official RiSA Chart, Billboard South Africa, Shazam South Africa and the national radio chart, according to Radio Monitor. It also maintained the No. 1 position on the BMAT chart for 13 consecutive weeks.
But beyond the impressive numbers, the song connected with something deeply human: the uncertainty of life, the experience of losing loved ones and the determination to keep moving forward.

With Ke Nna, Trechyson takes that conversation further. Rather than attempting to recreate the success of his breakthrough, he shifts the spotlight towards the person behind the production.
It is a move that speaks to an important part of artistic growth: sometimes the biggest step forward is allowing audiences to see more of who you really are.
Seven tracks, countless human experiences
Across its seven tracks, Ke Nna explores identity, love, heartbreak, grief and resilience. These are experiences that cut across backgrounds and generations, particularly in a country where many young people are navigating personal struggles alongside the pressures of building a future.
The EP brings together contributions from Jinger Stone, Lah’Vee, Koketso Vocals, MaWhoo and Han-C, with each collaborator adding another dimension to its emotional storytelling.
Musically, the project stays rooted in Amapiano while incorporating soulful melodies, atmospheric production and expressive vocal performances.

The focus track, Bophelo Bo Jwalo, featuring Lah’Vee, captures the project’s reflection on life’s unpredictable journey. Their established creative relationship, which includes previous collaborations such as Impilo yo Mjita, brings a familiar chemistry to the release.
It is a reminder that Amapiano can hold multiple emotions at once. A song can move your body while giving your mind something to sit with long after the music stops.
A name that carries a personal story
Perhaps the most meaningful part of Trechyson’s journey is the story behind his stage name.
Originally from Agisanang in Sannieshof, North West, the producer carries the name Molly as a tribute to his late mother. Her memory remains closely connected to his identity and musical journey.
That connection gives Ke Nna another layer of meaning. Its exploration of loss, remembrance and perseverance is not simply an artistic direction; it reflects experiences that have helped shape the person behind the music.
Having started experimenting with music production in 2014, Trechyson has spent more than a decade developing his sound. His catalogue includes releases such as Umuntu Omnyama, Mpogo, Wish Me Well and Ka Di Weekend, demonstrating an ongoing commitment to exploring the emotional possibilities of South African house music and Amapiano.

More than a breakthrough moment
The temptation following a major hit is to repeat the formula. But Ke Nna suggests Trechyson is interested in something beyond maintaining chart positions.
His 2026 breakthrough has given him a bigger platform, and he is using that opportunity to share a more complete picture of himself.
For South African listeners, particularly a generation increasingly drawn to music that reflects their lived experiences, that honesty matters. Success is worth celebrating, but so are the stories of the people behind it.
With Ke Nna, Trechyson Molly vx reminds us that identity is shaped by everything we experience: the people we love, the losses we carry, the challenges we overcome and the moments that make us who we are.
He once asked what life means through Botshelo Ke Eng. Now, through Ke Nna, he offers something more personal: a reflection of the man life has made him.
