The Family Tree – As [With Love: Volume 2 Sampler]

The Family Tree ’As’ is the second single to be taken from the forthcoming Mr Bongo compilation, With Love: Volume 2.

Compiling the follow-up to a very successful first album is always a tricky task, but just 12 months since the release of volume one in the ‘With Love’ series, miche has excelled himself once again with another glorious, deep dive into the world of rare soul. 15 tracks of independently released music, created by magnificent artists with stories to tell and primed for rediscovery.

‘As’ is a funky gospel version of one of the greatest songs ever written. A Stevie Wonder penned masterpiece! Julius Brockington’s expertly led The Family Tree band turn it into a dance floor workout with an undeniable groove.

A perfect introduction to another wonderful compilation. We will leave the final words to miche,

“I’m so happy to have been able to officially license this sublime gospel cover of ‘As’ by Julius Brockington and his band, The Family Tree. Many people will automatically think of the Family Tree band that released an eponymous disco anthem, but this is a different Family Tree out of Baltimore, Maryland. I met Julius’ daughter last year and we both agreed that this version needed to be a part of the With Love series. I have been playing this on dancefloors across Europe for years, it is tried and tested! Being the last track on ‘With Love Volume 2’, it reflects how every proper party should end… with Stevie Wonder.”

In case you missed the first single, I’m including Alice Cohen & Fun City – ‘Save The Best ‘Til Last’ here as a little bonus. The album drops October 6th on vinyl, CD and digital formats. Please let me know if you’d like an advance copy for review, or would like to interview miche.
