Scorpion Kings Live Turns September Into a Music Carnival

If you thought Scorpion Kings Live was simply about seeing one of Amapiano’s biggest names on stage, think again. On 19 September 2026, the event is shaping up to be an all-day celebration of the sounds and cultures defining South Africa right now.

With doors opening at 12pm, the newly announced pre-show lineup transforms the build-up into an experience of its own, bringing together Amapiano, hip-hop, house, Bacardi and Maskandi before the Scorpion Kings take over.

And for a generation that experiences music as culture, identity and community, that diversity is the real story.

A Soundtrack of South Africa

The pre-show lineup reads like a snapshot of South Africa‘s constantly evolving musical landscape.

Fans can expect performances from A-Reece, Dlala Thukzin, Dark Horse, DJs @ Work, Venom, Banques, Sam Deep, Stixx, Mdu aka TRP, Jnr SA, Natiey Lepaka, Wendy Moon, Shandesh and Ba Bethe Gashoazen.

That’s a deliberately wide musical palette.

From Amapiano’s global influence to hip-hop’s lyrical energy and house music’s enduring dancefloor appeal, the programme reflects how South African audiences move between genres without needing to choose just one.

Bacardi Meets Maskandi

The cultural mix gets even more interesting with two dedicated showcases.

A special Bacardi showcase will feature Big Baller CEO, Black Boy, Sia The Bee and Zela Force, bringing the distinctive energy of the Bacardi movement into the day’s programming.

Then comes a Maskandi showcase featuring Mnotho, Mjabulisi, Mjolisi, Shenge Wasehlalankosi and Jikjiki.

It’s a significant inclusion. Maskandi’s presence alongside Amapiano, hip-hop and house positions the event as more than a genre-specific concert. It becomes a meeting point for different generations, regions and musical communities.

Come Early. Stay for the Culture.

The message from Scorpion Kings Live is simple: don’t arrive just for the headline moment.

The pre-show is designed to make the entire day part of the experience, creating a rolling celebration that builds towards the Scorpion Kings‘ headline performance.

Following unprecedented ticket demand, the expanded programme also gives fans another reason to secure their place at what is being positioned as a major moment on the South African live-music calendar.

For Standard Bank customers, limited tickets remain available through Webtickets, with 10% off for Standard Bank debit cardholders and 20% off for Standard Bank credit cardholders.

With doors opening at midday on 19 September, the party starts long before the main act hits the stage.

The Bigger Picture

Scorpion Kings Live‘s pre-show lineup captures something important about contemporary South African music: the culture isn’t living in separate boxes.

Amapiano can share space with Maskandi. Hip-hop can sit alongside Bacardi. House remains part of the conversation. Different sounds can coexist on the same stage and still feel distinctly South African.

That makes the 19 September experience bigger than a concert. It’s a celebration of how South Africans are creating, remixing and redefining their musical identity—one dancefloor at a time.
