Orms x Canon: Chasing Contrast – The Sea Point Promenade Photographic Exhibition Competition is Back!
Orms is excited to announce the return of its highly anticipated outdoor photographic competition, offering South African photographers an incredible opportunity to showcase their work along the stunning Sea Point Promenade and compete for Canon prizes valued at R100,000.
Now in its sixth year, the competition celebrates the talent and creativity of local photographers, providing a public platform for their work.
“This is a chance for our community to really push themselves as they try to find the magic in the everyday. It’s about bringing the beauty of the everyday to the fore. With the sea as its backdrop, there is something incredibly powerful about this exhibition. Our goal is to showcase artists who may not otherwise have the opportunity to exhibit, while also bringing photography directly to the public to grow appreciation for this beautiful art form.”

Chasing Contrast: Celebrating Monochrome Photography
The sixth edition, Orms x Canon: Chasing Contrast, invites photographers to embrace the timeless power of Black & White photography. By stripping away colour, photographers focus on light, texture, and emotion to capture South Africa’s cities, landscapes, heritage, and everyday life in its rawest form. From sweeping natural vistas to the intricate details of urban scenes, Chasing Contrast highlights the country’s beauty through a bold, monochromatic lens.
The Top 20 images will be featured as an outdoor exhibition along Sea Point Promenade, near Orms’ current exhibitions, remaining on display for a full year (terms and conditions apply).
How to Enter
The competition is open exclusively to South African residents. Participants can submit up to five images at a time, with unlimited entries. The submission deadline is 9 October 2025.
