Ama Gaisie, the London-born, Cape Town-raised singer, actor, and dancer, has returned with a bold new single that literally connects music to nature. ‘Be Sure’—released on 27 June—is a genre-bending experiment that fuses Afrobeats, R&B, and cutting-edge plant-based sound production in what she proudly calls Afrobeatanicals.

The track’s foundation is unlike anything the music world has seen before. Collaborating with producers Tristan Coetzee and Rudolph Wilemse, Ama’s team utilized a PlantWave device to convert the electrical signals of African plants—like Marula and Rooibos—into MIDI data. These natural tones were then woven into a dynamic soundscape that pulses with both ancestral rhythm and digital innovation.
“By connecting sensor pads to various African plants, we have landed on Marula rhythms, Rooibos beats and so forth—sampled and engineered into pure melodic joy,”.
explains Wilemse
The result is a track that not only sounds good but also feels alive.
Having honed her performance craft through acting studies in the UK while singing in community venues, Ama returns to the global music stage with a fresh purpose. ‘Be Sure’ is more than just a single—it’s a sonic diary entry, reflecting her journey between two worlds: the high-speed hustle of London and the intentional stillness of Cape Town.
“‘Be Sure’ was inspired by my change of lifestyles, moving between London and Cape Town. It’s about moving away from hustle culture that consumes us in cities. I wanted to change the pace of life, so I came home to South Africa. It’s an intentional choice to slow down—using rhythm that’s all around us.”
says Ama
With sultry vocals, rich production, and a groundbreaking connection to the natural world, ‘Be Sure’ stands as a testament to Ama Gaisie’s evolution—not just as a performer, but as a storyteller, innovator, and voice of modern Africa.
