Batuk Album Launch
After months of worldwide touring, BATUK (a duo comprised of songstress Manteiga and music producer Spoek Mathambo), have returned home to Johannesburg with new music for us all to enjoy. This new music comes in the form of their sophomore album, ‘Kasi Royalty’. The album is an eclectic mixture of soulful house, exhilarating electronic music, and midtempo kwaito, which is sure to send South Africans into nostalgic mode.
The album is comprised of twelve (12) tracks showcasing Spoek and Manteiga’s unique talent for writing beautiful heartfelt songs steeped in great beats. The album features American vocalist Camica King on “Agua Vida” as well as Big Space on “Love at First Sight”. Watch the video above to see how the album launch went down. Batuk’s playful kwaito single “Niks Mapha” is slowly catching airplay on some of South Africa’s leading radio stations already playlisted on YFM & Tru FM.
