Mamelodi Sundowns Rise Kit: More Than a Jersey

Football shirts have always represented more than the teams wearing them. They carry identity, pride, belonging and the stories of supporters who see a piece of themselves in the badge. For Mamelodi Sundowns, the latest collaboration with PUMA takes that idea a step further.

Introducing The Rise Kit, the club’s Third Kit for the 2026/27 season – a design that looks beyond the football pitch to celebrate African ambition, youth empowerment and the belief that greatness has no boundaries.

A New Look Inspired by African Possibility

The Rise Kit draws inspiration from the limitless African sky, using a white and blue colour palette to represent hope, peace, opportunity and possibility.

It is a noticeable shift from the familiar yellow identity associated with Masandawana, offering supporters a fresh expression of the club’s personality while remaining connected to its bigger ambitions.

More importantly, the design connects with Mamelodi Sundowns‘ season-long campaign, Never Stop Rising.

For the Yellow Nation, rising is about more than collecting trophies or dominating domestic football. It represents the collective journey of a club and its supporters across the African continent, constantly pushing boundaries and pursuing excellence.

In a football culture where identity is everything, a kit becomes another way of telling that story.

Every Child Deserves to Rise

Perhaps the most meaningful part of the launch is its connection to National Children’s Day.

Under the message Every Child Deserves to Rise, Mamelodi Sundowns is using the platform to champion children’s rights, dignity, protection and empowerment.

It introduces a social dimension to what could otherwise have been another football merchandise announcement.

South Africa‘s young people continue to navigate different challenges, from unequal opportunities to limited access to environments where their talents and ambitions can flourish. The message behind the Rise Kit speaks directly to the importance of creating spaces where children can imagine bigger futures.

Mamelodi Sundowns Club Ambassador and former captain Hlompho Kekana believes the initiative should inspire young people to dream beyond their circumstances.

He also challenged those in leadership positions to create environments that nurture and protect children’s well-being.

It is a reminder that influence comes with responsibility. Football clubs have enormous cultural reach, particularly among young supporters, and that visibility can be used to amplify conversations that matter beyond matchday.

The real opportunity will be turning that message into meaningful action.

Performance Meets Everyday Football Culture

Beyond its symbolism, the Rise Kit also brings PUMA’s performance technology into the conversation.

Supporters will have two official versions to choose from: the Authentic shirt, worn by players on the pitch, and the Replica version designed for supporters.

The Authentic edition features PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE fabric, engineered for lightweight performance and unrestricted movement. Its dryCELL and ThermoAdapt technologies are designed to manage sweat and regulate heat, helping players stay comfortable during intense performances.

The Replica shirt, meanwhile, is made using recycled polyester, bringing a sustainability consideration into the club’s latest merchandise offering.

For supporters, the choice comes down to whether they want the elite performance specification or a version that brings the club’s latest identity into everyday wardrobes.

When Can Supporters Get Their Hands on It?

The Rise Kit will make its on-pitch debut when Mamelodi Sundowns face Durban City in a Premier Soccer League fixture on Saturday, 31 October 2026.

The shirt goes on sale on 30 October, with the following pricing:

  • Authentic Players Shirt: R2,399
  • Replica Men’s and Women’s Shirt: R1,299
  • Replica Kids’ Shirt: R1,199

Supporters can purchase the kit through PUMA retail stores, PUMA.com, Totalsports, Takealot and Studio 88.

Ultimately, The Rise Kit is an invitation to see football as something bigger than the result on the scoreboard. It connects sporting ambition with the possibilities of the next generation.

And perhaps that is the strongest statement behind the design: rising should never be reserved for those already at the top. Every child deserves the opportunity to dream, grow and discover just how far they can go.
