Langa Mavuso Takes Therapy to the Stage

An album can change meaning once it leaves the artist’s hands. For Langa Mavuso, Therapy: The Other Side has spent the past year becoming something bigger than a collection of songs.

On Friday, 2 October 2026, Stella Artois presented Langa Mavuso: Curated Show, an intimate one-night-only experience at the Kumalo Turpin Gallery at Nine Yards in Johannesburg. Limited to just 120 guests, the evening offered a glimpse into where the critically acclaimed album goes next.

Rather than simply recreating the record on stage, Mavuso and his collaborators explored what happens when music becomes a complete sensory experience.

When an Album Becomes a World

Therapy: The Other Side has always been deeply personal, drawing from themes of grief, healing and identity. But one year after its release, those themes have taken on new meaning through the people who have connected with the music.

That evolution became the central idea behind the Curated Show.

Inside the gallery, familiar songs were reinterpreted with a live orchestra, giving the music greater scale while maintaining the intimacy of Mavuso’s storytelling. Between performances, personal narratives added context to songs that have already found their way into the lives of listeners.

Fashion and design further shaped the environment, turning the gallery into an extension of the album rather than simply a venue for a concert.

The result was less about watching a performance and more about stepping inside the world of Therapy.

A Defining Year for Langa

The experience arrives during a significant chapter in Mavuso’s career.

The singer-songwriter earned his first SAMA for Best Produced Album for Therapy: The Other Side, while Dangerous received a Metro FM Music Award nomination.

His September single, I Choose You, has also opened another door, leading into the forthcoming Therapy: The Other Side (Deluxe).

That momentum makes the Curated Show particularly interesting. Instead of treating an award-winning album as a finished product, Mavuso is continuing to question what it can become.

As he puts it, the songs no longer belong only to him. Listeners have lived with them, interpreted them and attached their own experiences to them.

That is arguably the most powerful evolution of Therapy: the audience has become part of its story.

Johannesburg Becomes Part of the Experience

Stella Artois‘ involvement extended beyond simply attaching its name to a music event.

Through its Worth More platform, the brand created an environment designed to give Mavuso’s creative vision room to breathe. The gallery setting, hospitality and Stella Artois‘ Perfect Serve were woven into the evening without taking attention away from the music.

For Johannesburg’s creative scene, that approach reflects a broader shift in how audiences experience culture. Music increasingly exists alongside fashion, visual art, design, food and storytelling.

The Curated Show sits comfortably within that space.

What happened on 2 October was therefore more than an anniversary celebration. It was a test run for the next life of Therapy: The Other Side.

And if this intimate Johannesburg experience was the beginning, the question now is how far Mavuso can take it.

The album may have started as therapy. Its next chapter belongs to the stage.
