Novelas+ Brings Global Telenovelas to DStv Access

South African telenovela fans are in for a treat as MultiChoice officially launches Novelas+, a channel dedicated entirely to the world’s best telenovelas dubbed into English, on DStv Access from 1 July.

The new channel promises an exciting blend of drama, romance, rivalry and revenge, featuring some of the most popular productions from Latin America, the United States, Portugal and Turkey. Following its massive success in French-speaking Africa, where it has become the number one telenovela channel by audience size, Novelas+ is now set to captivate English-speaking viewers across South Africa.

A Portuguese-language version of the channel will also debut in neighbouring Angola and Mozambique, further expanding its footprint across the continent.

Bringing Global Stories to African Audiences

Nomsa Philiso, Canal+ Director of Content General Entertainment for English- and Portuguese-speaking Africa, says audiences across the continent share a deep passion for telenovelas.

“Diverse audiences across Africa are united in their love for a juicy telenovela. We’re bringing all the passionate flavours of global dramas to their screens, with new episodes every day. Quality is everything, and we’re curating, localising and scheduling only the best for our viewers, including Turkish telenovelas, which have become a global sensation.”

Under its promise to viewers to “Feel the beat of love,” Novelas+ will deliver compelling stories filled with emotional twists and unforgettable characters.

Daily Drama Fix

The channel will broadcast four telenovela series every weekday, with a fresh episode of each show airing daily from Monday to Friday. The programming line-up combines iconic classics and exclusive new titles featuring internationally acclaimed stars.

Among the highly anticipated shows is Avenida Brasil, the Latin American phenomenon starring Débora Falabella as a woman seeking revenge after being abandoned as a child, alongside Adriana Esteves, whose portrayal of one of television’s most memorable villains earned global acclaim.

Viewers can also look forward to Be My Sunshine, a feel-good Turkish romantic comedy starring rising stars Ayça Ayşin Turan and Alp Navruz, delivering a charming summer romance packed with heart and humour.

Mexico’s queen of melodrama, Angelique Boyer, takes centre stage in the 2025 remake of Doménica Montero, bringing a fresh interpretation to the beloved classic.

Turkish drama fans are also set to become engrossed in Sin and Roses, starring Murat Yıldırım and Cemre Baysel, in a gripping story about a businessman whose world unravels after his wife’s shocking secret comes to light.

More Value for DStv Access Subscribers

According to Willington Ngwepe, CEO of MultiChoice, the launch forms part of the company’s continued efforts to enhance its entry-level offering.

“We’re delighted to keep adding more and more value for our DStv Access subscribers.”

The arrival of Novelas+ follows the recent introduction of music and culture channel Base Pulse and the 24/7 sports destination SportyTV. It also comes alongside MultiChoice’s commitment to making all 104 FIFA World Cup 2026™ matches available to DStv Access subscribers.

With globally acclaimed productions and fresh episodes every weekday, Novelas+ is poised to become the new home for telenovela lovers in South Africa when it launches on DStv Access on 1 July.
