DStv Celebrates 30 Years with a Special Edition of 30 Seconds
DStv is celebrating three decades of entertainment by turning South African television, sport and pop culture into a special edition of the iconic board game 30 Seconds. The limited-edition release commemorates 30 years of shared moments that have shaped how South Africans watch, talk about and enjoy entertainment.

The DStv 30 Seconds edition features an impressive 2 400 phrases inspired by local TV shows, legendary sports achievements and cultural highlights from 1995 to today. Designed as a nostalgic yet fast-paced game night experience, the edition transforms memorable moments into quick-fire clues that test knowledge, memory and teamwork.

Drawing from DStv’s rich legacy, the game includes 240 custom-made cards, each packed with 10 clues. Players can expect references ranging from Springbok World Cup victories and unforgettable sporting triumphs to fan-favourite series such as The River, Idols SA, Binnelanders and Isibaya. The game also pays tribute to iconic characters, places and moments across the broader MultiChoice family, celebrating stories that have defined the local TV landscape over the past three decades.
“For 30 years, DStv has been part of how South Africans relax, argue about sport, discover new shows and spend time together. This game is a fun way to celebrate that shared history. It takes all those moments people still talk about, from big sporting wins to unforgettable TV, and turns them into something you can enjoy around a table with friends and family.”
says Willington Ngwepe, CEO of MultiChoice, the broadcasting service licensee
The special edition also honours the South African roots of 30 Seconds itself. The game was created by Calie Esterhuyse in the late 1990s and has since become one of the country’s most beloved board games. For the DStv edition, Esterhuyse and Calco Games collaborated closely with DStv to customise the content, with the game proudly manufactured in Cape Town.

The limited-edition DStv 30 Seconds board game is not available for retail sale. Instead, subscribers can win a copy through DStv Rewards on the MyDStv app by spinning the rewards wheel as part of the platform’s merchandise giveaways.
