Sandra Stein Returns to Shake Up LLB Season 2
SAFTA-winning actress Shannon Esra is officially stepping back into one of South African television’s most iconic legal roles as Sandra Stein joins Law, Love & Betrayal (LLB) for its much-anticipated second season. As fans like to say: the people spoke and Showmax listened.
Showmax has released the first trailer for Law, Love & Betrayal Season 2, confirming its return on Sunday, 8 March 2026 at 20:00 on Mzansi Magic (DStv Channel 161), followed by its Showmax premiere on Monday, 9 March 2026. The new season promises heightened drama, deeper character arcs and the arrival of one of Mzansi’s most formidable legal minds.
Season 2 introduces several new characters, led by the legendary and lethal Sandra Stein, a role Esra has made famous across multiple hit productions including The Queen, The River, Gomora, The Throne, and M-Net’s The Legacy. Widely regarded as the queen of courtroom drama, Esra’s return to the legal genre feels both inevitable and celebratory.

Joining her are Sparky Xulu (Empini) as principled social justice lawyer Sakhile Nxusa, and Katlego Lebogang (Spinners, Soft Life) as sharp criminal attorney Bakang Mokgotso, adding fresh dynamics to an already volatile legal landscape.
Season 1 ended on a gripping cliffhanger that saw Gumede & Associates crumble, leaving viewers eager for answers. Esra admits fans were vocal about Sandra’s absence in the first season, making her arrival in Season 2 all the more satisfying. With series producer and director Christo Davids extending the call, Esra didn’t hesitate. For her, Sandra Stein’s return felt destined.
What makes Sandra Stein such a beloved character is her precision, brilliance and enduring mystery. Esra describes her as utilitarian, strategic and endlessly fascinating — a character who has seamlessly lived across multiple fictional worlds while remaining unmistakably herself. That enigma, she says, is exactly what keeps audiences invested.

Beyond the sharp suits and cutting cross-examinations, Esra reveals that portraying Sandra is a joy rather than an emotional burden. Unlike some of her more emotionally taxing roles, Sandra allows her to have fun, to flow, and to enjoy the craft. Preparation for the role is grounded in well-researched scripts vetted by legal consultants, balanced with the creative licence needed to make courtroom drama compelling television.
In Season 2, viewers will see Sandra navigate a room full of strong personalities with calculated ease. Esra hints at a darker, more playful edge to the character — one that stirs chaos, probes weaknesses and strategically disrupts lives, all while revealing flashes of humanity beneath the steel exterior.
With higher stakes, messier choices and characters pushed into deeply uncomfortable territory, Law, Love & Betrayal Season 2 expands the world introduced in its debut season. And with Sandra Stein back in the courtroom, one thing is certain: order will not be restored quietly.

Law, Love & Betrayal Season 2 premieres 8 March 2026 on Mzansi Magic and streams from 9 March 2026 on Showmax.
