Warner Music Africa & Africori Shine at the 31st SAMAs

The 31st South African Music Awards (SAMAs) unfolded under the evocative theme “Flowers For Those Who Keep Our Nation Singing”, a heartfelt tribute to the artists whose creativity, resilience and voices continue to shape South Africa’s cultural heartbeat. The theme served as both celebration and reminder: to honour musicians with their flowers while they can still smell them.

Against this meaningful backdrop, Warner Music Africa, in partnership with Africori, emerged as one of the night’s most powerful forces, as a collective of boundary-pushing artists claimed top honours and reaffirmed their cultural relevance and sonic excellence.

Leading the accolades was Sjava, who took home the award for Best Afro Pop Album for Isibuko (Deluxe). Deeply introspective and emotionally resonant, the project continues Sjava’s legacy of honest storytelling rooted in lived experience. The win further cements his position as one of South Africa’s most vital and influential musical voices.

In the Best Amapiano Album category, Kelvin Momo claimed victory with Ntsako, a lush and soul-stirring body of work that highlights his mastery of emotive composition and immersive soundscapes. The award reflects not only Kelvin Momo’s refined artistry, but also the continued evolution and global expansion of Amapiano as a genre.

Honouring heritage, spirituality and cultural pride, Makhadzi Entertainment was awarded Best Traditional Music Album for Miracle Child (Deluxe). The project stands as a powerful celebration of tradition and triumph, carried by Makhadzi’s unmistakable voice and her unwavering commitment to honouring her roots while commanding mainstream acclaim.

In the Best Contemporary Faith Music Album category, Takie Ndou received top honours for The Glory. The spiritually rich album bridges worship, contemporary production and personal testimony, offering music that uplifts, inspires and resonates deeply with listeners.

Crowning an exceptional night, Warner Music Africa also secured the award for Most Streamed Song of the Year with Kwelanga 2.0 by Bassie x M-Touch x Ranger x Amaza, featuring Tman Xpress & LeeMcKrazy. A true cultural moment, the song’s digital dominance highlights the power of collaboration and the undeniable impact of Amapiano on South Africa’s streaming landscape.

Collectively, these wins underscore Warner Music Africa and Africori’s continued commitment to amplifying authentic African voices, championing genre-defining artistry and shaping culture both at home and across the continent.

As the SAMAs celebrate another milestone year, Warner Music Africa and Africori stand proudly alongside their artists — honouring excellence, elevating African music and ensuring its flowers continue to bloom.
