On 26 September 2025, Charles Webster unveils The Artist, a soul-stirring collaboration with South Africa’s leading jazz architect, Bokani Dyer. The track marks the final single before the release of Webster’s much-anticipated album, From The Hill.
Bringing together Webster’s refined leftfield house production with Dyer’s signature piano-driven storytelling, The Artist embodies a space where jazz and house seamlessly intersect. The track offers a moment of calm clarity, guided by intricate detail and emotional depth.
For Dyer, this collaboration follows his award-winning 2023 release Radio Sechaba and a global run of festival performances that solidified his reputation as a modern jazz innovator. Within Webster’s soundscape, he delivers both as a pianist and a storyteller, weaving his artistry into the pulse of deep house.

The Artist concludes a series of standout collaborations leading up to the album:
- Bakulindele with Muzi
- Free with Atmos Blaq
- Many Blessings with China Charmeleon & Girly Mbambani
- Rain with EMAMKAY & Bokang Ramatlapeng
Each single has carved its own sonic identity, while collectively building anticipation for From The Hill.
The project, created by Charles Webster and Allan Nicoll (Kid Fonque), features the finest talents of South Africa’s deep house scene. Recorded at Flame Studios, a powerful space built inside a former prison that once held Nelson Mandela at Constitution Hill, the album carries both historical and cultural weight. Constitution Hill is where South Africa’s democratic constitution was written after the fall of Apartheid, adding another layer of significance to the music.
Accompanied by a behind-the-scenes documentary, From The Hill officially lands on 14 November 2025, promising to be a landmark release that bridges continents, genres, and generations.
