Charles Webster & Muzi – “Bakulindele”: A Deep, Soulful Prelude to a Landmark Album

A Transcendental Collaboration

Legendary UK producer Charles Webster has announced his forthcoming album, Charles Webster And The South African Connection – From The Hill, set for release on 29 August 2025, via Stay True Sounds. To introduce this highly anticipated project, Webster teams up with genre-defying South African artist Muzi on Bakulindele, a deeply immersive track dropping on 14 March 2025.

With a shared passion for sonic experimentation, Webster and Muzi craft an atmospheric, emotive experience, fusing intricate drum patterns with hypnotic vocals.

“We really paid attention to the drum swing when making this. It was cool to work with a fellow sonic experimenter like Charles.”

Muzi explains

This organic synergy delivers a sound that is both timeless and forward-thinking, encapsulating the essence of deep house while pushing musical boundaries.

“From The Hill”: An Album Rooted in History

The full project, spearheaded by Stay True Sounds founder Kid Fonque and Webster, unites South Africa’s underground music scene in a bold, genre-spanning showcase. The album was recorded at Flame Studios, a historic recording space inside the former prison at Constitution Hill—a site deeply embedded in South Africa’s fight for freedom.

“It’s an important place. Mandela was in there; you can really feel the history. I didn’t want the album to be too light because you can’t escape from politics anywhere, especially here—and you shouldn’t.”

A Deep House Statement

With Webster’s soul-driven electronic production and Muzi’s unfiltered storytelling, Bakulindele is a compelling introduction to a project that promises to be both musically profound and culturally significant.

Stay tuned for 14 March 2025, as Bakulindele sets the tone for an album destined to leave a lasting impact.
