🎬 Get ready to catch Khaki Fever – a sexy, laugh-out-loud safari romp that’s heating up the 2025 kykNET Silwerskerm Festival before stampeding onto Showmax this September.

Showmax has just dropped the Khaki Fever trailer ahead of its world premiere at The Bay Hotel’s Rotunda in Camps Bay at 20:00 on Friday, 22 August 2025. The cheeky R-rated comedy, which has tongues wagging already, will begin streaming on Showmax from Friday, 5 September 2025.

Set in the South African bushveld, Khaki Fever follows a group of charming game rangers who spark a scandalous challenge: who can hook up with the most tourists during the high season? The reward? The prestigious (and naughty) title of King of Khaki, plus the losers’ collective tips.

But there’s a major obstacle — Anel, the conservative and no-nonsense lodge manager, who’s warned that any ranger caught flirting with guests will be fired immediately.
“Khaki fever is what happens when lonely tourists see ripped game rangers get out of their 4×4 in their khaki kortbroek.”
As director Brett Michael Innes puts it:
Shot on location in the Cradle of Humankind and styled by viral outdoor fashion brand Boerboel Wear, the film features an ensemble cast led by SAFTA-nominated Top Billing presenter Christopher Jaftha as Daniel. He’s joined by Silwerskerm 2025 nominees Anja Taljaard, Trix Vivier, Liam Bosman, and Ilse Klink, alongside a star-studded ranger squad that includes Abel Knobel, Francois Jacobs (Kaalgat Karel), and Sean Brebnor (Getroud Met Rugby). Oh, and don’t forget a sassy French bulldog named Chardonnay.

The film is the second comedy directed by Brett after his hit Daryn’s Gym, with Khaki Fever co-written and co-produced with his husband, Nick Ahlers, under Nostalgia Productions. It’s a total 180 from Brett’s previous emotionally heavy work (Sink, Fiela’s Child), proving his versatility as a filmmaker.
“This is a Friday night film – a funny and sexy safari escape with your friends after a long week,”.
says Innes
Loki Rothman composed the score and original theme song, aptly titled Khaki Fever, while Emmy-winning casting director Christa Schamberger ensured the cast was equal parts hilarious and hot.

📅 Khaki Fever will screen again on Saturday, 23 August at 18:00 at The Bay Hotel. Tickets are available via Quicket.

Alongside Khaki Fever, Showmax will showcase four other Originals at Silwerskerm 2025, including the family film Finding Optel and series pilots Vaal Riviera, Unspoken War, and Ontwaak.

📺 Don’t miss the streaming debut of Khaki Fever and Finding Optel — both landing on Showmax from Friday, 5 September 2025.
