This is a band like no other – think Black Cat White Cat meets Brenda Fassie – add an opera singer, a polish refugee, a Manchester born kwaito star and SA’s most astute linguist, and you have half the picture. The other half best be experienced live.

In keeping with true non-conformist Bombshelter Beast style, 2 brand new singles will be released to radio nationwide, showcasing the diversity of their sound and energy.

The major first single is the raucous ‘Taka Takata’ – a little throwback to the days of Kwaito’s dominance. This old school classic features two legends of South African Hip Hop & Kwaito, Pitch Black Afro and Mapaputsi. The track was originally recorded as the title track for a comedy film featuring Trevor Noah and Kagiso Lediga, and the two top selling rappers added some super fresh freestyling to the session.
The song mixes the sound of the joyous big street bands of old with the urban grittiness of kwaito beats and swinging freestyle rap!

The second single is ‘Madam Bliss’ – a remix of a South African Jazz Hip-Hop classic, featuring Zolani Mahola (‘Freshlyground’), and double-platinum selling rapper Pitch Black Afro – all muddled in with that special Bombshelter Beast flavour!
Bombshelter Beast is a genre-busting music collective second to none, comprising some of South Africa’s most colourful and innovative musicians – a lineup of instrumentalists that charm their audiences across the board. ‘One of the group’s secret weapons is the multilingual rapper/comedian/actor Pule. An enigma to most, this guy has already done it all, and continues to defy stereotypes faster than
Trump makes them!’

It represents a unique approach to the South African sound – where you will experience a Jozi-mixed grill of old school Kwaito & House, Drum n Bass, Dancehall, Dub, Ska, Balkan, Boeremusiek, Hip Hop, Ghoema, Rock, and the odd sneaky bit of Jazz – all peppered with badass rapping & live improvisations.
