adidas adiSignature Reimagines Streetwear Classics

Some fashion pieces never really leave the culture. They evolve with every generation, finding new meaning on the streets, in music videos, at social gatherings and in the everyday wardrobes of people who make style their own. Now, adidas Originals is revisiting that legacy with adiSignature, a new collection that puts a premium spin on familiar sportswear staples.

Launching on 3 November 2026, the collection brings together the heritage of adidas Originals and the creative vision of Willy Chavarria, who joins the project as Creative Advisor. With prices ranging from R799 to R1,999, the collection reimagines classic sweats for a generation that wants comfort, individuality and a stronger connection to what it wears.

More Than a Tracksuit: A New Take on an Icon

The Firebird and SST tracksuits have long been recognisable symbols of adidas Originals. Their Three Stripes branding and unmistakable silhouettes have travelled across generations, becoming part of a wider streetwear language shaped by music, sport and youth culture.

With adiSignature, adidas isn’t abandoning those familiar designs. Instead, it is asking how they can evolve.

Hoodies, sweatpants, T-shirts, tanks and quarter-zip mock-neck tops receive updated proportions, premium fabrics and carefully considered construction. The result is a collection that keeps the brand’s identity intact while giving wearers more room to express their personal style.

The approach reflects a shift in contemporary fashion: heritage pieces remain relevant when they continue to change with the people wearing them.

Willy Chavarria Brings a Fresh Perspective

For Chavarria, adiSignature is designed to be more than a one-season collaboration. It is a creative framework intended to develop over time, opening up new possibilities for adidas Originals‘ signature designs.

The inaugural collection features heavyweight 420-gram brushed-back fleece, dropped shoulders, roomier sweatpant fits and one-piece hood constructions. Details such as ribbing, waistband heights, stitching and zipper pulls have also been reconsidered.

These choices matter because premium streetwear isn’t only about a recognisable logo. Fit, texture, weight and construction all influence how a garment feels and how it works within an individual’s wardrobe.

The collection draws on bold, 1980s-inspired colour blocking, combining Trefoil branding and Three Stripes detailing with vibrant colourways and monochromatic options. A premium NY block pack also revisits an archival jogging suit from the 1980s, giving the vintage-inspired design a contemporary update.

Fashion That Leaves Room for Individuality

One of adiSignature’s central ideas is that familiar essentials can become tools for personal expression.

For South African streetwear enthusiasts, where global sportswear influences meet local music, sneaker culture and individual creativity, that conversation feels particularly relevant. A tracksuit can be styled as a complete look or separated into pieces that work with other wardrobe staples.

The collection’s emphasis on inclusive styling and versatile silhouettes also speaks to a broader appeal: fashion doesn’t have to follow one prescribed formula to make an impact.

Rather than treating sportswear as something reserved for the gym or a casual day at home, adiSignature positions everyday essentials as pieces that can carry a distinct point of view.

The Campaign Puts People at the Centre

The launch campaign extends that message beyond the clothes themselves.

Shot and directed by Brianna Capozzi, with styling by Georgia Pendlebury, the campaign follows a diverse cast through unscripted moments of conversation and reflection. Memories, relationships and identity become central themes, while colour serves as a visual expression of happiness and unity.

It’s a people-first approach that connects the collection’s design language to the emotions and experiences that shape personal style.

After all, the lasting appeal of streetwear comes from more than what a brand produces. It also comes from how communities interpret, wear and make those pieces their own.
