2026 Content Creator Awards Winners

Grace Mondlana and Vafa Naraghi Lead Creator Awards

South Africa’s digital culture is being shaped by creators who know how to turn everyday moments into conversations, build communities through their content and capture audiences with ideas that stick. At the 2026 Samsung Galaxy Content Creator Awards, those creative forces took centre stage, with Grace Mondlana and Vafa Naraghi emerging as two of the evening’s biggest winners.

Held at The Galleria in Sandton, the ceremony brought together digital personalities, entertainers, industry leaders and brand partners to celebrate the people influencing how South Africans consume entertainment, discover trends and connect online.

For a generation increasingly building careers through cameras, smartphones and social platforms, the awards were more than a glamorous night out. They offered a glimpse into an industry where creativity has become a serious professional pursuit.

Grace Mondlana and Vafa Naraghi Set the Pace

Grace Mondlana walked away with two major honours: the Trendsetter Award and the coveted Samsung Galaxy Creator of the Year Award. Her double win recognised her position among the creators helping shape South Africa’s digital conversation.

Vafa Naraghi also had a standout night, securing both the Best Social Series Award and the Thumbstopping Award. The combination celebrates two important sides of digital storytelling: developing content that keeps audiences coming back and creating moments compelling enough to stop someone mid-scroll.

Their wins reflect the range of skills required to stand out in an increasingly competitive online space. A successful creator needs more than a following. Originality, consistency, audience connection and an understanding of what makes people engage all play a role in building a recognisable digital identity.

A Celebration of South African Creative Energy

Hosted by comedian Mpho “Popps” Modikoane, the ceremony balanced recognition with a full entertainment programme.

Mama Ka Lo, also known as Sizakele Ndaba, opened the show, while Dan Corder delivered a video skit and Lasizwe teamed up with Cedric Fourie for an Awkward Dates segment that brought humour to the evening.

Music and dance also highlighted the creative diversity represented at the awards. Six nominees in the 947 Sound of Tomorrow category — Chesrae Megan, Carter Najar, Lordkez, Lukiemusic, Mikhalé Jones and Teagan’s Things — joined forces for a special medley.

Dance creators Chad Jones, Benny Jnr, Ludopie, Rudi Smit and TDO Thando brought their skills to the stage in a performance choreographed by Benny Jnr, who also helped deliver the evening’s finale.

Mikhalé Jones ultimately claimed the 947 Sound of Tomorrow Award, while Chad Jones won the Dance Creator Award.

Why the Samsung Galaxy Partnership Matters

This year’s partnership with Samsung Galaxy places technology at the heart of the creator conversation. Smartphones have become essential tools for filming, photography, editing and publishing, allowing creators to develop ideas and share them with audiences without necessarily needing access to a traditional production studio.

That accessibility matters in South Africa, where digital platforms offer alternative routes into entertainment, media and entrepreneurship. However, access to technology is only one part of the equation. Distinctive ideas, technical skills and the ability to build an audience remain central to turning content into a sustainable career.

Manuela Dias de Deus, founder of the Content Creator Awards and One-eyed Jack, described the partnership as an exciting next step for the platform, highlighting the role smartphones play in bringing creative ideas to life.

As the creator economy continues to evolve, recognising talent across established and emerging categories is an important part of acknowledging the people building this new media landscape.

The 2026 awards celebrated those already making an impact. The next chapter will be shaped by creators who find new ways to tell South African stories, build communities and transform their creativity into opportunity.
