Rising South African football star Mduduzi Shabalala has officially joined the PUMA South Africa football family, becoming one of the newest faces of the brand’s football division. The talented attacking midfielder also features in the campaign for the all-new PUMA ULTRA 7 football boot, which he will wear throughout the upcoming season.

The exciting partnership marks another major milestone in the career of the 22-year-old, who continues to establish himself as one of South Africa‘s brightest football talents.

PUMA South Africa‘s Teamhead for Teamsports Marketing, Tshepo Mashishi, believes Shabalala has the potential to become one of the country’s leading footballers for years to come.
“Mdu’s performances last season were impressive, and we believe that we are signing a player that will be at the forefront of South African football for many years to come and drive on-pitch visibility of our ULTRA football boots,”.
said Mashishi
He also backed the young midfielder to become an important figure for Bafana Bafana as South Africa targets a return to football’s biggest stage at the 2030 FIFA World Cup.

Shabalala, who made his senior Bafana Bafana debut in October 2025, joins an impressive PUMA football roster featuring stars including Teboho Mokoena, Themba Zwane, Iqraam Rayners, Bathusi Aubaas, Malibongwe Khoza, Patrick Maswanganyi, Thapelo Morena, Sailor Mudau, and Mfundo Vilakazi.

Speaking about his decision to sign with PUMA, Shabalala said the brand’s values perfectly match his ambitions as a professional footballer.
“My decision was based on how well PUMA’s values, vision, and commitment to athletes align with my own goals and journey as a footballer. I push myself every day to improve, compete at the highest level, and make an impact on and off the pitch.”
Looking ahead to the new campaign, the midfielder has set clear objectives for himself.
“I want to improve my consistency, contribute more goals and assists, and continue developing all aspects of my game to help the team succeed.”
The gifted playmaker will begin the season wearing the new PUMA ULTRA 7 football boots, which he says perfectly complement his attacking style.
“It’s lightweight, comfortable, and built for speed, which suits my style of play perfectly.”
Away from the field, Shabalala remains active across social media, where he shares training sessions, matchday experiences and moments from his personal life.
“It’s a way for me to connect with supporters, inspire young players, and give people a glimpse into who I am beyond football.”
With his growing influence both on and off the pitch, Mduduzi Shabalala’s partnership with PUMA signals the beginning of an exciting new chapter as one of South African football’s most promising young stars.
