South African sonic storytellers Sio and Daev Martian have reunited for their captivating new single, Liquor, released via STY TRU BTS. The track marks a powerful return for the longtime collaborators, whose creative chemistry once again shines through in a rich blend of soulful storytelling and jazz-inspired production.
On Liquor, Sio delivers an emotionally charged vocal performance, exploring themes of vulnerability, introspection, and the lingering emotions left behind after fleeting moments of escape. Her evocative lyricism transforms the song into a deeply personal journey, where liquor becomes both a metaphor and a memory.
Complementing her performance is Daev Martian’s signature production style. Drawing from jazz, lo-fi soul, and jazz-hop influences, he crafts a warm and atmospheric soundscape that feels intimate and immersive. The result is a track that balances mood, rhythm, and narrative with remarkable precision.
More than just a reunion, Liquor feels like the continuation of an artistic conversation between two musicians who continue to push creative boundaries. With this release, Sio and Daev Martian reaffirm their status as two of South Africa’s most compelling alternative artists, delivering a soundtrack perfectly suited for reflection, release, and emotional honesty.
