Global sportswear giant PUMA and German football powerhouse Borussia Dortmund (BVB) have unveiled a striking 2025/26 Special Kit, honouring the 100-year legacy of the iconic Stadion Rote Erde — a historic landmark deeply rooted in the club’s identity.
Standing proudly alongside Signal Iduna Park, Stadion Rote Erde represents far more than a physical structure. It is the birthplace of Borussia Dortmund’s enduring football culture — a venue where generations of fans witnessed the rise of the Black & Yellow spirit. Today, it continues to serve as the home for Borussia Dortmund II, the women’s team, and local athletics, preserving its legacy as a living symbol of community and passion.
A Design Inspired by Heritage
To mark the stadium’s centenary, PUMA has crafted a bold cold black kit accented with refined beige tones — a visual tribute to the stadium’s sandstone architecture. The design is layered with meaningful details, including:
- A tonal graphic inspired by the stadium’s iconic running track
- Embossed patterns referencing the historic entrance gates
- A sandstone-textured finish that echoes the venue’s architectural identity
The result is a jersey that seamlessly blends heritage with modern performance — a true reflection of Borussia Dortmund’s past and present.
Built for Performance and Sustainability
The 2025/26 Rote Erde jersey is available in both Replica and Authentic versions. The Authentic edition is engineered with PUMA’s ULTRAWEAVE technology, delivering an ultra-lightweight feel designed for peak athletic performance and freedom of movement.
Both versions incorporate PUMA’s dryCELL moisture-wicking technology, ensuring comfort on and off the pitch. In line with sustainability goals, the jersey is produced using at least 95% recycled materials as part of PUMA’s RE:FIBRE initiative — reinforcing the brand’s commitment to environmentally responsible innovation.
A Historic Launch on the Pitch
Fans will see the kit in action when Borussia Dortmund’s first team debuts it during their home clash against Hamburger SV on 21 March 2026. The women’s team will follow with a special presentation at Stadion Rote Erde on 22 March — a fitting tribute given the stadium’s role as their home ground.
The celebrations will continue on 25 March with the return of the legendary “Match of the Century,” where former BVB icons will face a Benfica select XI at the very site of the club’s historic 5–0 victory over Benfica in 1963. Additional friendly matches, including a clash against Liverpool legends, will further showcase the commemorative kit.
