Mahindra Fusion Fest 2026 Celebrates SA Creativity

The Mahindra Fusion Festival 2026 delivered an unforgettable celebration of South Africa’s creative spirit, bringing together music legends, rising stars, fashion designers and artists for a powerful cultural showcase.

What began as an ambitious cultural experiment has quickly grown into one of the country’s most distinctive celebrations of music, fashion and art. This year’s festival returned bigger, bolder and more immersive, drawing thousands of fans and creatives to experience a unique blend of collaboration, performance and innovation.

The 2026 edition culminated in a spectacular grand finale at the SunBet Arena on Saturday, 7 March, following months of nationwide excitement. Leading up to the event, Mahindra South Africa hosted vibrant campus and cultural activations in Cape Town, Durban and Johannesburg, bringing the Fusion Fest spirit directly to communities across the country.

A Platform for Emerging Talent

Through roadshows and dealership-led initiatives, Mahindra invited young musicians, artists and fashion designers to participate in a nationwide talent search. The initiative reinforced the festival’s mission of creating opportunities for emerging creatives while sharing the stage with established performers.

The response was overwhelming, with hundreds of entries submitted by aspiring creatives from across South Africa. The journey culminated in a packed arena and an unforgettable evening celebrating the country’s vibrant creative community.

According to Rajesh Gupta, the festival reflects the youthful energy and creativity of the Rainbow Nation.

“The youthful vibrancy of the Rainbow Nation is something we experience every day across South Africa — in its music, fashion, art and the remarkable creativity of its people. Fusion Fest was created to celebrate exactly that spirit.”

Gupta explained that the festival draws inspiration from the philosophies of Ubuntu and Vasudeva Kutumbakam — the belief that the world is one family — bringing diverse voices together on one platform.

A Fusion of Legends and New Icons

The 2026 showcase featured four powerful musical fusions that blended genres, generations and creative disciplines.

The nostalgic Rewind the Revolution segment was led by Zoë Modiga and featured iconic acts including Mafikizolo, Kurt Darren and Claire Johnston. The performance was complemented by fashion from Imprint and vibrant pop art by Shaun ‘Damn Vandal’ Oakley.

One of the evening’s most anticipated moments was Hip Hop Most High, an unexpected yet powerful fusion of hip hop and gospel praise. The segment featured performances by Blxckie, Maglera Doe Boy and the Tshwane Gospel Choir, alongside fashion from The Bam Collective and art by illustrator Ndumiso Nyoni.

The Femme for All showcase celebrated female creative power, featuring Naledi Aphiwe, Karen Zoid, Nomfundo Moh and Mariechan, with immersive visual art by Inka Kendzia.

The festival’s finale, All About Now, delivered a high-energy celebration of amapiano culture featuring Zee Nxumalo, Focalistic and Daliwonga. The segment also showcased fashion from Munkus and street art by Bushy Wopp.

Celebrating the Next Generation

As part of the nationwide talent search, Thando Micky was announced as the winner of the emerging music competition. Two runners-up were also awarded R10,000 each to support their professional careers.

The festival also celebrated rising talent in fashion and art, with Andile Cele named the winning novice fashion designer and Anda Mncayi recognised as the top creative artist.

Driving the Future with the XUV 3XO

Beyond the music and art, the festival also highlighted Mahindra’s evolving automotive vision. The Mahindra XUV 3XO was showcased throughout the event, reflecting the brand’s appeal to a new generation of South African drivers.

Adding to the excitement of the night, Pretoria resident Ntombhi Mkalipi drove away in a brand-new Mahindra XUV 3XO after participating in a nationwide Mahindra test-drive campaign.

Together We Rise

As Mahindra enters its third decade in South Africa, the company continues to deepen its connection with local communities. With more than 100,000 customers and a major assembly plant in Durban, the brand is strengthening its footprint while supporting cultural initiatives that celebrate creativity.

Fusion Fest embodies this vision — demonstrating that when music, fashion, art and community come together, powerful cultural moments are created.

More than just a festival, Mahindra Fusion Fest stands as a celebration of South African identity and creativity — proving that when cultures, ideas and people unite, together we truly rise.
