Maison Deux Brings Luxury Department Store Concept to Hyde Park Corner

Maison Deux Opens at Hyde Park Corner with South Africa’s First Marc Jacobs Café

A new era of luxury retail has arrived in Johannesburg with the opening of Maison Deux at Hyde Park Corner. The concept store introduces South Africa’s first Marc Jacobs Café, combining international fashion, premium homeware and a café experience within one curated destination.

Developed by the Al Capone Group, Maison Deux represents a new retail approach designed to merge lifestyle, design and fashion under one roof. The concept reflects a growing shift in luxury shopping where experiences and atmosphere are as important as the products themselves.

A Curated Selection of Global Fashion Houses

Maison Deux presents an exclusive collection of globally recognised fashion brands, offering shoppers access to luxury labels rarely seen together in a single South African space.

Among the fashion houses featured are Etro, Kenzo, Missoni, Givenchy, Marc Jacobs, Isabel Marant, and Giuseppe Zanotti.

The store also incorporates the multi-brand Al Capone selection, featuring labels such as Moncler and Maison Margiela alongside the group’s own Capone label.

Luxury Homeware Meets Fashion

Expanding beyond fashion, Maison Deux introduces a refined home and lifestyle offering. Visitors can browse a curated range of design-focused homeware brands including Etro Home, Lisa Corti, OW London, Missoni Home, Stories of Italy, Zarina Tableware and Dolce & Gabbana Casa.

This blend of fashion and interiors allows shoppers to express personal style not only through clothing but also through their living spaces.

South Africa’s First Marc Jacobs Café

At the heart of the store sits the Marc Jacobs Café, inspired by the vibrant energy of New York. Designed as a stylish social hub within the retail environment, the café combines fashion-led interiors with a curated menu, encouraging visitors to relax, connect and enjoy the space.

The café adds a distinctive lifestyle element to the store, transforming a traditional shopping trip into a broader cultural and social experience.

A New Retail Concept for South Africa

The name Maison Deux, meaning “the house of two”, reflects the meeting of the Al Capone Group’s established retail heritage with a more experiential approach to shopping.

Inspired by European department stores, the concept brings together fashion, interiors and café culture in a format that remains rare in South Africa. The result is a retail environment designed for discovery, where visitors can explore international brands while enjoying a curated lifestyle experience.

According to Francois du Buisson, the new concept strengthens the centre’s commitment to distinctive retail.

“Maison Deux reflects the kind of layered retail experience our shoppers increasingly look for. Welcoming a concept of this nature, together with South Africa’s first Marc Jacobs Café, adds something genuinely new to our retail mix.”
