Raise The Bar NextGen Hits Schools Nationwide

Mzansi Schools Take Centre Stage in #RaiseTheBarChallenge as Robot Boii Searches for NextGen Talent

South Africa’s most iconic dance moves and Hip-Hop verses have long been born in school fields, corridors, and assembly halls—far from the spotlight. Now, those creative beginnings are stepping into national view as Robot Boii leads a bold new chapter of the Sunlight Raise The Bar campaign into schools across the country.

The newly launched Raise The Bar: NextGen Edition places Hip-Hop and Amapiano at the heart of youth culture, opening doors for emerging performers to showcase their artistry, confidence, and originality on a national platform. Backed by Sunlight, the initiative shifts the spotlight directly to the grassroots spaces where creativity first takes shape.

From School Stages to National Recognition

For Robot Boii—who rose from community dance culture to become a viral mainstream performer—the campaign is deeply personal.

He reflects on the raw talent visible at school level, where rhythm, individuality, and confidence already thrive. Raise The Bar NextGen, he explains, is about helping young creatives believe that their starting point does not define their future—mirroring his own journey from school fashion shows and fun days to international stages.

Building on a Breakthrough Year

The NextGen edition follows a powerful previous season that transformed ordinary participants into rising stars. National winners Fortunate “Nate Magic” Mbele (Hip-Hop) and Luzuko “Ludopie” Namba (Amapiano dance) moved from a digital competition to standing backstage with icons at Cassper Nyovest’s Fill Up concert—proving the platform’s ability to unlock visibility and industry access.

This year, the campaign expands even further by entering schools directly, ensuring more undiscovered talent can be seen, supported, and celebrated while also giving back to their learning communities.

Prizes That Empower Creativity

Ten winning schools across South Africa will each receive R100,000 to support creative development and community initiatives, while individual winners earn an additional R35,000.

In total, R1.35 million is up for grabs—an amount that also honours Sunlight’s 135-year legacy in Mzansi, connecting today’s youth expression with generations of shared cultural heritage.

According to Sunlight’s Southern Africa marketing leadership, Raise The Bar has always championed creativity and confidence rooted in authentic South African culture. The NextGen edition deepens that mission by meeting young people where their creativity already lives: in movement, music, and collective expression.

How to Enter the Raise The Bar NextGen Challenge

Teachers, parents, or guardians can participate by:

  • Purchasing two 500g Sunlight Laundry Green Bars
  • Registering via the dedicated WhatsApp platform using the till slip
  • Submitting a 30–60 second Hip-Hop rap or Amapiano dance video that incorporates the Sunlight Laundry Bar

With ten winning schools set to benefit and a national stage waiting, the question remains: Is your school ready to raise the bar?
