Soweto Shines Bright at White Star Miss Soweto 2025

Soweto Shines Brighter Than Ever as White Star Miss Soweto 2025 Crowns Its Queen

The Soweto Theatre was alive with glamour, pride, and powerful storytelling on Saturday night as the 46th annual White Star Miss Soweto crowned its 2025 queen. The prestigious pageant once again showcased the beauty, intelligence, and leadership of young women from Soweto, bringing together families, fans, and community leaders for a night to remember.

What began on 16 October 2025, with the introduction of the Top 20 finalists, blossomed into a spectacular finale. Over several weeks, contestants took part in transformative workshops designed to prepare them not only for the spotlight, but for lasting impact in their communities. From confidence-building to leadership development, these sessions shaped the women who graced the stage on the big night.

The audience enjoyed an unforgettable performance by the sensational Azana, whose powerful vocals and presence elevated the evening’s energy. Co-hosts Nia Brown and Thulz of YFM kept the show vibrant and engaging, while former Miss Soweto 2016 and Miss South Africa 2025 finalist Nthabiseng Kgasi brought star appeal to the red carpet.

A panel of esteemed judges — media personality Bridget Masinga, Sowetan lifestyle journalist Masego Seemela, and Miss Soweto legend and award-winning makeup artist Bongi Mlotshwa — had the challenging task of selecting winners from an extraordinary group of young women.

After thoughtful deliberation, Lungile Siyaphi was crowned White Star Miss Soweto 2025. She walked away with R100 000 in cash from White Star and elegant evening gowns designed by Eli Ball. Lungile impressed with her heartfelt commitment to uplifting her community, her quiet confidence, and her effortless poise on stage.

The runner-up titles were awarded to equally outstanding contestants:

  • 1st Princess: Boitumelo Molotsana – receiving R20 000 cash and the Miss Social Butterfly award worth R5 000, voted by her fellow contestants.
  • 2nd Princess: Kutlwano Zingitwa – awarded R15 000 for her inspiring performance and dedication.

The People’s Choice Award (Miss Congeniality), determined through public vote, went to Thando Motha, who took home R5 000 for her warmth, charm, and popularity among supporters.

All three top winners also received luxurious beauty hampers from Black Opal, celebrating their achievements and adding sparkle to their queenly glow.

“The 2025 White Star Miss Soweto pageant was a true celebration of strength, spirit, and community. Our new queens embody the values this platform stands for, and we are honoured to support their journeys as they inspire and lead. This night was a testament to the incredible talent and resilience that Soweto nurtures.”

Reflecting on the success of the night, Jonita Cuff, Marketing Manager for White Star, shared:

The evening concluded with heartfelt applause as Soweto witnessed the rise of new role models, ready to make meaningful contributions to their communities and beyond.
