Vertic Opens a New Chapter with ‘Surfaces’
South African producer Vertic, best known as one half of the acclaimed duo Deep Narratives, steps confidently into his solo journey with the release of Surfaces. As part of Deep Narratives, Vertic has already helped deliver standout tracks like “Insimbi” with Culoe De Song and Zvri, and “Yaze Yamnandi” with Argento Dust and Okmalumkoolkat. Now, without stepping away from the duo’s shared path, he expands his creative universe with a project that reflects personal transformation and artistic evolution.
The title track, “Surfaces (Extended Mix)”, arrives as a moment of rebirth. Written during a period of introspection, it represents Vertic’s emergence into a refined sound—cleaner, bolder, and more emotionally charged. Its textures and energy speak to an artist rediscovering his voice while honouring his roots.
On the second track, “1996 (Extended Mix)”, Vertic shifts into pure dancefloor mode. Inspired by the pulse of outdoor festivals and the freedom of late-night sets, the song channels movement, upliftment, and perseverance. It’s an ode to the belief that rhythm can ground us, push us, and ultimately strengthen us.
With Surfaces, Vertic doesn’t close the Deep Narratives chapter—he expands it. The release marks the beginning of a parallel path, positioning him as one of South Africa’s most dynamic and evolving creative forces.
