The Bothongo Rhino and Lion Nature Reserve is inviting wildlife lovers to experience nature like never before with the launch of its Sunset Safari Game Drives, happening every Saturday and Sunday evening from 17:00 to 19:00.
Located just a short drive from Johannesburg and Pretoria, this world-class reserve in the Cradle of Humankind World Heritage Site offers an unforgettable adventure as the day transitions into night.
Guests will embark on a guided journey across 1,200 hectares of unspoiled Savannah Highveld grasslands and rugged terrain — home to over 600 animals and 30 different species, including lion, white rhino, buffalo, cheetah, wild dog, hippo, crocodile, and more than 20 antelope species. The two-hour drive offers a perfect blend of relaxation, photography, and awe-inspiring wildlife encounters.
“There is nothing quite like being in the heart of the bush as the sun sets. The golden light transforms the landscape, and the bushveld comes alive with a different energy. These drives allow our guests to experience the magic of the Highveld at its most peaceful and dramatic hour, creating memories that truly last.”
says field guide Didi Mahlo
The Sunset Safari Game Drives offer guests a unique opportunity to witness the wild as it transitions from day to night — when nocturnal animals awaken and the sounds of the bush take on a mystical rhythm.
