In the true spirit of Nelson Mandela’s legacy, Kabza De Small, Mlindo The Vocalist, and the Scorpion Kings Live With Friends production team joined forces with Tracy, Young Stunna, and Sony Music Africa to spend their Mandela Day at the Thuthuzela Aid Community Centre—an orphanage in Alexandra township.
Fresh from releasing their new album Bab’Motha, the Scorpion Kings crew set aside time from planning their historic Scorpion Kings Live With Friends show, scheduled for 29 August 2025 at Loftus Versfeld Stadium, to honour Tata Madiba’s legacy with over 67 minutes of hands-on community service.
Giving Back with Purpose
The team rolled up their sleeves to refurbish the orphanage, paint communal areas, and cook and serve hearty meals to the children. The day was filled with joy as the artists also provided entertainment, bringing smiles and laughter to young faces.
But the giving didn’t stop there. The initiative included a donation handover packed with essential supplies for the centre:
- Diapers and nursery mats for infants
- Stationery for schoolchildren
- Non-perishable food items
- Toiletries including sanitary pads, toothbrushes, toothpaste, washing powder, and more
This heartfelt effort highlights the Scorpion Kings’ commitment to using their platform not only for music, but for meaningful change.
“As artists, we recognise the importance of giving back to the communities that surround and support us. Spending time at Thuthuzela allows us to not only honour Tata’s legacy, but also make a tangible difference in the lives of the children and young people here. That’s what Mandela Day is about – service, love, and humanity.”

A Call to Action
The artists and Sony Music Africa encouraged the broader public and organisations to mirror this effort—not only on Mandela Day but throughout the year.
“True honouring of Mandela’s legacy means showing up, uplifting others, and inspiring ongoing acts of kindness,”.
