The results of the 2025 National Wine Challenge (incorporating Top 100 SA Wines) have been revealed—and Fairview has once again proven its standing as one of South Africa’s most respected wine producers. Five of the estate’s standout wines have been awarded Double Platinum status and ranked among South Africa’s Top 100 Wines.

Now in its 15th year, the National Wine Challenge is recognised for its rigorous judging process. This year’s panel included top wine professionals and industry leaders who assessed entries through meticulous blind tastings. With fierce competition, particularly in red wine categories, Fairview’s continued success is a testament to its dedication to quality and innovation.

Celebrating Craft and Character
“These awards honour more than just great wine—they celebrate our philosophy. From the carefully farmed vineyards to the detailed cellar work, these wines are a team effort.”
say winemakers Annette van Zyl and Anthony de Jager
- On Eenzaamheid Shiraz: “We’ve been making this wine for over 20 years. The Briers-Louw family’s grapes are always exceptional.”
- On Lanner Hill Syrah: “This is only our second vintage, and we’re thrilled with how it’s showing.”
- On Cyril Back: “As our flagship, only the best barrels make the cut—so it’s special to see it recognised.”
- On the Brut: “Clean, crisp, and always a crowd favourite. We’re proud of this wine’s unique blend and style.”
A Team Effort
“These accolades wouldn’t be possible without our vineyard workers, cellar team, viticulturists, logistics, and tasting room staff—many of whom have been with us for decades. This is their win too.”
Fairview’s third-generation owner, Charles Back, added:

“South African wine is at a turning point. Excellence is now the norm. We’re honoured to be part of that movement, and proud to fly the flag for the Swartland, Paarl, Darling, and Coastal Region.”
