Air France Reaches New Culinary Heights on Departures from Paris to South Africa

In June 2025, Air France is redefining in-flight dining with an extraordinary gastronomic experience for travelers departing Paris for South Africa. By renewing its collaboration with leading Michelin-starred French chefs, the airline continues to deliver refined, world-class cuisine to passengers in its long-haul Business and Premium Economy cabins.

A Star-Studded Culinary Collaboration

In the Business Class cabin, triple Michelin-starred chef and Bocuse d’Or laureate Régis Marcon has crafted an exclusive selection of dishes inspired by the nature and flavors of the Auvergne-Rhône-Alpes region. In partnership with celebrated pastry chef Nina Métayer, recently named the World’s Best Pastry Chef 2023, Air France offers a menu that is both rooted in tradition and elevated by innovation.

From Camargue rice with lemon, carrot, and orange sauce to a Royale of salmon and prawns with tangy sauce and seasonal vegetables, each dish is a carefully composed ode to French terroir. Desserts are no less indulgent, with highlights including a Raspberry lemon delight and Tatin-style crunchy delight, designed to offer passengers a sweet but light ending to their meal.

As part of its sustainability efforts, Air France allows Business passengers to pre-select their main course up to 24 hours before departure. This initiative ensures both availability and helps reduce food waste—an increasingly important aspect of the airline’s broader environmental commitment.

Premium Economy with a Michelin Touch

In Premium Economy, Frédéric Simonin, a one-starred chef and Meilleur Ouvrier de France, continues his culinary journey with Air France, first launched in November 2023. His new seasonal menu includes refined yet comforting dishes such as Salmon with shellfish sauce, pasta and wild rice, and Prawns with tomato and squid ink rice.

Simonin emphasizes a respect for regional French ingredients, ensuring each dish tells a story of origin and craftsmanship.

“For Air France customers, I have carefully chosen each product from our French regions that I can transform with delicacy and precision, for a special culinary experience,”.

Responsible Luxury in the Skies

All dishes are prepared in collaboration with Servair, a global leader in airline catering, using fresh, seasonal ingredients. True to its commitment to responsible dining, Air France sources all meat, poultry, dairy, and eggs from France, with fish from sustainable or French fisheries. Vegetarian options are also systematically included in every cabin, catering to a variety of dietary preferences.

As global travel evolves, Air France continues to combine luxury, sustainability, and culinary excellence, ensuring passengers en route from Paris to South Africa enjoy an unforgettable dining experience—from takeoff to landing.
