Katlego Lebogang Returns to Showmax with Bold Role in New Drama Series Soft Life
Spinners actress Katlego Lebogang makes a powerful return to Showmax, starring in the highly anticipated drama series Soft Life, set to premiere on 2 December 2024. Katlego takes on the role of Zinhle, a confident, sexually liberated character who embraces a life of luxury as one of the most in-demand women at NubiaBlaq, an elite agency that doubles as an escort service run by Zam, played by Mampho Brescia.

Zinhle stands out as a fearless, ambitious woman who relishes the finer things in life while working to transition from her current lifestyle into a successful business career.
“I never judge my characters. What I like about Zinhle is her drive. Despite the unconventional career path, she knows what she wants and will stop at nothing to achieve her goals. She’s a woman who has done a lot for herself, despite not coming from privilege.”
Katlego explains
Katlego approached Zinhle’s unapologetically liberated nature with a sense of curiosity rather than hesitation.
“I wasn’t apprehensive. In fact, it made me curious to explore her backstory. For Zinhle, sex isn’t complicated – she keeps it moving.”
To capture Zinhle’s essence, Katlego drew inspiration from strong, sexually empowered female characters in shows like Insecure and Harlem, which depict women navigating self-discovery and independence.

Working with female directors Nozipho Nkelemba and Nthabising Mokoena, Katlego felt supported in bringing Zinhle’s multi-layered personality to life.
“Collaborating with Nozipho and Nthabiseng was a highlight. They created a safe space for tackling the sensitive themes in Soft Life.”
she says
Known for her commitment to portraying complex characters authentically, Katlego emphasizes her connection to Zinhle’s spirit.
“Our job as actors is to connect with the soul and heart of our characters. Zinhle may be different from me, but there’s always something to relate to. I feel responsible to portray her without holding back.”
As for how the show will resonate with audiences, Katlego anticipates reactions that may push viewers out of their comfort zones.
“Male viewers might be a bit shook! The show highlights ongoing gender dynamics and societal dialogue. It’s going to spark important conversations.”
In a landscape rich with local content, Katlego is confident that Soft Life will bring a fresh voice to screens.
“This is a new story. It’s not a new experience, but it offers a fresh perspective on real-life situations.”
Soft Life will launch with three episodes on 2 December 2024, with a new episode releasing every Monday until 10 February 2025.
