ABOUT ‘KHUPHUKA’
The seven-track EP is an electrifying mix of 3-Step, Amapiano, and Gqom, creating a soundscape that appeals to fans of both genres. DJ Tira expertly balances innovation with nostalgia, ensuring that his hardcore followers and new listeners alike have something to celebrate.
The first two tracks, Baba Wami and Khuphuka, introduce the audience to the 3-Step sound, a genre gaining traction in South Africa. The latter, which also serves as the lead single, sets the tone for the project, embodying the rhythmic energy that defines DJ Tira’s signature style.
Collaboration plays a key role in this EP, particularly on tracks three and four, where DJ Tira teams up with DJ Maphorisa. This collaboration is a groundbreaking fusion of Amapiano and Gqom, bridging two of South Africa’s most powerful dance music movements.
