Our Experience at Spring Fiesta 2024: A Day of Music, Fun, and Challenges

Initially, Spring Fiesta 2024 wasn’t on our list of events to attend, but once we took a look at the lineup, skipping it felt impossible. With stages like the iconic Soul Candi Classic stage and the Stay True Sounds stage featuring UK artist/DJ Crackazat, it was clear: we couldn’t miss it.

For anyone who loves house music, the Stay True Sounds stage was a massive drawcard, and it certainly didn’t disappoint. Atmos Blaq’s set was pure magic from start to finish, filled with energy and beautifully crafted tracks. Crackazat followed up with an equally mesmerizing performance, seamlessly blending his signature sound of jazz-infused house. Of course, we couldn’t talk about Spring Fiesta without mentioning the legendary Ralf GUM, whose set left the crowd in awe. These were just a few highlights, but honestly, this stage was one of the main reasons we couldn’t stay away from Spring Fiesta this year.

Spring Fiesta is known for its unique vibe, and a big part of that is the location – Wild Waters, situated right next to O.R. Tambo International Airport. Watching planes land as you dance the day away adds a special kind of energy to the experience that makes Spring Fiesta unlike any other event. It’s almost a signature feature that long-time attendees have come to expect and love.

While the music and atmosphere were undeniably amazing, there’s always a downside to large events, and in this case, it was the security and safety concerns. Getting into the event was smooth, with tight security checks at the entrance, but as the night went on and people began to leave, safety became a real issue. Pickpocketing was rampant, with a noticeable presence of opportunistic individuals—especially targeting those who might have had a little too much to drink. This kind of thing isn’t unique to Spring Fiesta, but it’s something you need to be aware of when attending large-scale events like this. While parking in the VVIP area offers a bit more security, it’s a reminder that events this big need to continue improving post-event safety measures.

Despite these challenges, we’re already planning to come back next year. The Stay True Sounds and Soul Candi Classic stages alone make it worth it. Spring Fiesta stands out as one of the few events offering not just one, but four house music stages, plus a hip hop stage for those who want a mix of genres. It’s an experience that brings music lovers together, and even with the hiccups, the music and vibe make it a must-attend event.

So, will we return? Absolutely. For the music, the energy, and the unforgettable sets from some of the best house DJs around, Spring Fiesta continues to be a highlight on the event calendar.
