Champagne by Sammi Ferrer & Chaleee
Sammi & Chaleee make their Sondela debut with ‘Champagne’; a title deliberately chosen to toast the incredible success they’ve had in the last year. The duo are really on a roll at the moment, having gained support from the industries biggest stars with their releases on Kazukuta and MoBlack.
Beyond the celebratory title, Sammi & Chaleee were seeking to create a dancefloor weapon to play in their sets around Europe. This one’s been road tested at Sammi’s residency at the prestigious Audio Club in Geneva and when he played alongside Black Coffee in Portugal earlier this year. Black Coffee’s been hammering this for the last few months, including in his BBC Radio One Essential Mix.
Tension builds in the intro to ‘Champagne’, before the nagging vocal drops in. A piano counters a sinister synthy undertone, giving a great contrast of light and dark. It’s an afro journey that’s perfect for peak-time. Heads down, locked in the groove.
