A dynamic, versatile and devoted young actress with a passion for storytelling. Having achieved an honours degree in Theatre and Performance from the University of Cape Town, Shonisani has a strong background in both stage and film acting.

Shonisani’s professional theatre debut was in a famous South African play called “Curl up & Dye” at The Rosebank Theatre in 2014, where she received outstanding reviews for her performance as Dudu. Her television debut was in 2015, on Mzansi Magic in a feature film called “On the ropes” where she played Nandi, the daughter of a troubled boxer.

Simultaneously she featured in the final episode of a popular American television series called “Royal Pains”, playing a young African woman in distress. Shortly afterwards Shonisani was on SABC 2 in the hit South African soapie “Muvhango” in 2016, as Langanani, the chief’s potential 5th wife. In 2017 & 2018, Shonisani tackled the complex role of Lutendo in season 2 of the coveted Mzansi Magic telenovela “Ring Of Lies”.

In the year 2019, Shonisani plays the lead role of Norah in Zee World Africa’s hit show “Mehek”, a pioneering effort of integrating Bollywood and African cinema. In the same year and 2020 she also plays the recurring role of Khensani on the prime time Mzansi Magic telenovela, “Isithembiso” and Anna: The Crossroads Witch on the popular Mzansi Magic Sunday night series “Omen”.

With multilingual experience on both local and international screens and having played integral roles in over 9 theatre productions; Shonisani is an exceptionally flexible and eclectic performer, with a very bright future ahead of her. Catch the interview we did with her on #UrbanLifestyle IG Live.
