Wonder Fest Takes Flight in Tshwane
7 March @ 12:00 pm – 8 March @ 2:00 am
Tshwane Welcomes a New Flagship Cultural Festival
A new cultural chapter is set to unfold in the capital as Wonder Fest, a first-of-its-kind lifestyle and music festival, makes its debut on Saturday, 7 March 2026 at the iconic Wonderboom National Airport.
Positioned as more than just a music event, Wonder Fest introduces a bold festival experience under the theme “The Flight Experience – Not Flying, But Elevating Culture.” The festival reimagines the airport runway as a cultural runway, bringing together music, fashion, food, and people into a full day-to-night celebration of Tshwane’s creative energy.

A Powerful Line-Up of South African Talent
The inaugural Wonder Fest lineup features some of South Africa’s most influential and respected artists, including:
- DJ Maphorisa
- Sun-EL Musician
- MÖRDA
- Vigro Deep
- Ms Cosmo
- Transmicsoul & Silly Bean
- Kyotic DJ
- Shandesh
The day will be hosted by celebrated MCs Mpumi Landan and Mfana Gogo, guiding festival-goers through a carefully curated musical journey designed to build energy from day into night.
More Than Music: A Full Lifestyle Experience
Inspired by the much-loved Wonder Market, Wonder Fest expands this ethos into a large-scale festival format that blends:
- Curated food experiences
- Fashion and self-expression
- Lifestyle culture
- Immersive music programming
The result is a festival that invites audiences not just to attend, but to participate, express themselves, and show up with intention.
An Iconic Venue with Historic Significance
Hosting the festival at Wonderboom National Airport carries deep symbolic value. Celebrating 90 years of operational excellence, the airport’s historic stature, strategic location, and expansive infrastructure provide an iconic backdrop capable of supporting large-scale public participation.
By transforming an active transport hub into a vibrant civic space, Wonder Fest showcases the City of Tshwane’s innovation, heritage, and cultural vitality while also:
- Stimulating local economic activity
- Supporting small businesses
- Promoting tourism
- Strengthening public-private collaboration
This reinforces the airport’s role not only as a transport asset but also as a catalyst for community engagement and urban activation.
Building a Cultural Institution for Tshwane
“Wonder Fest is about creating a cultural moment that truly belongs to Tshwane. Hosting it at Wonderboom National Airport allows us to think bigger, move differently, and reimagine how people experience music, fashion, food, and each other. This is not about flying – it’s about elevating our own culture, right here in the capital city. We’re excited to welcome everyone on the 7th of March for what we believe will become a defining annual moment for Tshwane.”
Speaking on the festival’s significance, Wonder Fest representative Victor Mopelong shared:
As the first annual Wonder Fest, the event lays the foundation for a recurring cultural institution in Tshwane—one that celebrates local identity while resonating on a national scale.
Early demand has been strong, and festival lovers are encouraged to secure tickets before they sell out.
