The Soirée by Stella Artois Brings Wimbledon Style to Johannesburg

As the excitement of the Wimbledon finals captivated tennis fans around the world, Johannesburg hosted its own unforgettable celebration of style, culture and connection with The Soirée by Stella Artois: Wimbledon Edition. The premium lifestyle event transformed the city into an elegant destination where music, fashion, food and meaningful shared experiences took centre stage.

Hosted in a beautifully designed outdoor setting, the event seamlessly blended the timeless sophistication of Wimbledon with the vibrant energy of South African creativity. Guests enjoyed a day-to-night experience that celebrated craftsmanship, culture and the joy of coming together.

A standout feature of the event was an exceptional live music lineup. Legendary singer Thandiswa Mazwai, neo-folk artist Bongeziwe Mabandla, soulful newcomer Thando Zide, award-winning R&B star Shekhinah, Afro-pop sensation Sha Sha, and rising performer Lia Butler delivered memorable performances that kept guests entertained throughout the day and into the evening.

Reflecting on the unique atmosphere, Thando Zide said the event showcased more than entertainment.

“There is something incredibly special about performing in a space where music, fashion and culture all speak the same language. Today wasn’t simply about entertainment, it was about people coming together to celebrate creativity and shared experiences in a truly beautiful way.”

Fashion also played a leading role during the celebration. Acclaimed designer Keneilwe Mothoa introduced an exclusive Wimbledon-inspired capsule collection that combined contemporary South African design with the refined heritage of tennis. The limited-edition pieces highlighted Stella Artois‘ ongoing commitment to supporting local creative talent through globally inspired cultural experiences.

Guests were treated to a range of immersive Stella Artois experiences throughout the day. The Tasting Table featured gourmet small plates expertly paired with the premium Belgian lager, encouraging guests to appreciate the art of food pairing while creating memorable moments together.

The event also showcased Stella Artois‘ iconic five-step pouring ritual, allowing attendees to experience the brand’s celebrated serving tradition before receiving personalized engraved Stella Artois chalices as elegant keepsakes. Friendly competition added another layer of excitement with a lively table tennis tournament that encouraged guests to connect through play.

The culinary offering reflected the event’s focus on shared experiences, with guests enjoying everything from bao buns and dim sum to seafood, ribs, wings and beautifully curated picnic-style dining. The carefully selected menu encouraged guests to relax, socialise and savour every moment.

Melanie Nicholson, Head of Brand for Stella Artois South Africa, said the event continues to celebrate the brand’s core values of craftsmanship and connection.

“The Soirée by Stella Artois is about creating moments where craftsmanship, culture and connection come together naturally. From our iconic pouring ritual and personalized engraved chalices to thoughtfully curated food pairings and world-class local talent, every detail is designed to elevate how people gather, connect and savor the moments worth more.”

With each edition, The Soirée by Stella Artois continues to redefine lifestyle experiences in South Africa by bringing together world-class entertainment, local fashion, premium hospitality and meaningful cultural moments. Inspired by one of the world’s most prestigious sporting events, the Wimbledon Edition proved that the most memorable occasions are those shared with others, where timeless traditions meet contemporary South African creativity.
