adidas Unveils the Dropset 4, Its Most Versatile Functional Training Shoe to Date
adidas has officially launched the Dropset 4, its most versatile cross-functional training shoe yet, designed to meet the growing demands of modern, multi-discipline workouts. Engineered with newly inbuilt runnability, enhanced support for explosive movements, and uncompromising stability for lifting, the Dropset 4 sets a new benchmark for functional training footwear.

Developed in response to insights showing that 7 in 10 gym-goers are wearing incorrect footwear, the Dropset 4 reflects adidas’ commitment to empowering the next generation of athletes. The shoe is built to cut through the confusion of specialised gym shoes by delivering one solution that truly does it all – from strength training to high-impact conditioning.

An evolution of the Dropset 3, the Dropset 4 introduces upgraded technology that balances stability, energy return, and versatility. It supports athletes across the full spectrum of functional workouts, including heavy deadlifts, explosive box jumps, and short runs of up to 800 metres.

Performance-Driven Technology
Key features of the Dropset 4 include:
- Full-Length Repetitor Foam: Delivers consistent energy return and stability, supporting endurance through intense training sessions.
- EnergyRods: Designed for an optimal balance of stiffness and flexibility, offering force distribution for heavy lifts and a propulsive forefoot for jumps and dynamic movements.
- Continental™ & Adiwear Rubber Outsole: Strategically placed for superior traction and durability during loaded exercises such as sled pushes and weighted lunges.
- Footadapt Sockliner: Enhances foot awareness within the shoe, improving balance, form, and muscle engagement.
- Haptic Print Upper: A 3D textured layer that increases abrasion resistance while maintaining breathability for high-sweat workouts.
Built for Every Athlete
“We know our community has embraced functional training as an important part of their routine and needs a shoe that will support them through their entire workout, from warm-up to cool-down. The Dropset 4 is sturdy and stable for big compound lifts, while still delivering the cushioning and energy return needed for explosive movements and short runs.”
Aimee Arana, adidas Global General Manager Sportswear & Training, explained:
The launch is supported by the ‘All You Need’ campaign, fronted by adidas partners Antonela Roccuzzo, Caio Cabral, Hailey Van Lith, and Emilio Sakraya, alongside elite competitive training athlete Laura Horvath. Horvath recently achieved a major fitness victory wearing the Dropset 4, claiming first place at one of the world’s most elite fitness competitions in Aberdeen in October 2025.
“I’m always pushing my limits, from heavy compound lifts to intense sprints. The Dropset 4 gives me the perfect mix of stability, grip and comfort for every part of my training.”
Brazilian fitness star Caio Cabral shared:

“My training keeps me ready for any role. The Dropset 4 doesn’t force me to compromise – it’s light, stable, and versatile enough for explosive movements.”
Actor Emilio Sakraya added:
