Renowned South African producer UPZ makes a powerful return with You’re My Ghost, a genre-bending Afro House single that leads his latest EP of the same name. Released via Cape Town-based boutique label soWHAT Records, the project marks a bold evolution in UPZ’s sound, fusing soulful depth with modern Afro Tech energy.
Anchored by the moody, emotive vocals of Thomas Daniel, You’re My Ghost weaves together UPZ’s signature melodic chords with pulsating Afro House rhythms, punchy synths, and a drop that’s bound to ignite dancefloors. The track showcases UPZ’s mastery of classic songwriting, reimagined for today’s club culture.
“I’ve always had an affinity for soulful and deep house sounds. But I like to keep evolving. For You’re My Ghost, I wanted to bring in those familiar, moody chords I’m known for and match them with a dynamic Afro House structure. Thomas brought the perfect indie-pop touch to it.”

The EP also features the acclaimed single Na Wose, a powerful Afro Tech collaboration with Kenyan songstress Sofiya Nzau. The track previously received major support from none other than Black Coffee, further cementing UPZ’s place in the global Afro House movement.
With both tracks already gaining momentum on Apple Music and Spotify’s official Afro House playlists, You’re My Ghost is more than just a release—it’s a statement. A statement that UPZ, known for classics like Pure Surprise, Believing, and Uzongilinda, is boldly stepping into the next chapter of his sonic journey.
You’re My Ghost EP stands as a thrilling chapter in UPZ’s legacy—one where tradition meets innovation, and the dancefloor becomes a place for both reflection and release.
