5 July 2025 @ 8:00 am – 11:00 pm
The countdown is on for the most iconic event on South Africa’s social and sporting calendar—the 129th Hollywoodbets Durban July (HDJ), taking place on Saturday, 5 July 2025, at the historic Hollywoodbets Greyville Racecourse. This year’s dazzling theme, “Marvels of Mzansi,” pays tribute to the nation’s rich cultural heritage, resilience, and awe-inspiring beauty.
Unveiled in spectacular fashion at an exclusive launch event attended by media, fashion designers, celebrities, and racing enthusiasts, the 2025 theme sets the tone for what promises to be a truly unforgettable experience.
“The HDJ is more than just a race—it’s a cultural phenomenon. This year’s theme couldn’t be more fitting. It celebrates South Africa’s extraordinary achievements and vibrant diversity.”
said Devin Heffer, Hollywoodbets Brand and Communications Manager
A Proudly South African Showcase
From the iconic moments of South Africa’s sporting triumphs to the powerful unifying force of fashion and music, Marvels of Mzansi invites everyone to reimagine what it means to be South African. Whether it’s the unforgettable 1995 Rugby World Cup or Siya Kolisi’s back-to-back World Cup wins, this theme celebrates shared victories and cultural milestones that have inspired the nation.
“The HDJ is not only about fashion and racing—it’s about the spirit of Ubuntu and the heartbeat of our nation.”
Stephen Marshall, Events and Marketing Executive at Gold Circle, highlighted how the theme also underscores the tenacity and innovation of the South African people:

The 2024 edition generated a staggering R717 million for Durban’s GDP, reinforcing the event’s critical role in boosting tourism, hospitality, fashion, and the entertainment industries. With the 2025 event projected to exceed even that, the HDJ is set to provide a significant economic boost to KwaZulu-Natal once again.
