Kwa Baba Turns Family Secrets Into October ’26 Drama

If there is one thing Kwa Baba understands, it is that family drama rarely stays in the past.

Throughout October, the South African drama pushes its characters deeper into a maze of secrets, betrayal, marriage troubles, ancestral expectations and questions of identity. Episodes 89 to 110 promise a month where almost every attempt to repair a relationship seems to uncover another wound.

At the centre of it all are the Mkhize and Khumalo families, whose personal battles increasingly collide with questions of heritage, responsibility and truth.

When The Truth Becomes A Family Affair

October opens with Mhlaba frustrated by his medical results while Zandile and Nelisiwe begin considering a darker possibility. At the same time, Zwelakhe’s happiness about becoming a father creates an uncomfortable contrast with the cracks appearing in Khethiwe and Mxolisi’s marriage.

The tension escalates when a desperate search for answers reveals the source of Mhlaba’s suffering.

For Dumisani, however, the biggest battle is internal.

Across several episodes, he struggles with a painful truth that he knows must eventually be confessed. His journey becomes one of the month’s defining storylines as guilt, childhood trauma and the consequences of long-buried choices collide.

By Episode 96, the question is no longer whether Dumisani will tell the truth, but what happens once everyone knows it.

Love, Marriage And The Cost Of Staying Together

While family secrets dominate the narrative, relationships continue to take serious hits.

Khethiwe and Mxolisi attempt to find common ground, even as emotional distance threatens their marriage. Their storyline reflects one of the show’s recurring tensions: sometimes keeping a family together requires confronting the very things everyone would rather avoid.

Elsewhere, Khethiwe prepares to swap marital warfare for romance in Paris, while Dinana finds herself fighting for recognition within her own family.

Her journey becomes particularly significant as she is pushed into a leadership position connected to the family bakery. What begins as a professional opportunity quickly becomes personal, forcing Dinana to confront years of feeling overlooked.

Ancestors, Rituals And A Battle For Identity

The October episodes also lean heavily into the show’s exploration of spirituality and traditional beliefs.

Zwelakhe refuses to participate in rituals he does not understand, while other members of the family turn towards ancestral practices for answers. The arrival of an inyanga, the “two pots” system and an ukushweleza meeting all add another layer to an already fractured family.

But these spiritual choices are not treated simply as background. They become part of the characters’ decisions about family, responsibility and identity.

By the final week, Zwelakhe’s visit to the inyanga produces worrying results, while Bahumi faces a spiritual decision with implications for her unborn child.

October Ends With More Questions Than Answers

Episodes 103 to 110 take the drama into increasingly dangerous territory.

Betrayals emerge, revenge takes hold and the fight over the Mkhize legacy threatens to divide the family permanently. Musa becomes determined to avenge his father, while Dinana openly defies her family for Mandla.

Then comes Episode 110.

Zandile reaches breaking point and decides to leave. Dinana chooses Mandla despite her family’s opposition. Meanwhile, Bahumi’s leap of faith takes a chilling turn inside the inyanga’s ndumba.

For Kwa Baba, October isn’t simply about revealing secrets. It is about what families do when those secrets finally become impossible to contain.
