South Africa’s thriving creator economy is once again in the spotlight as entries officially open for the fourth annual Content Creator Awards. The 2026 edition invites digital creators from across the country to showcase their work and compete for recognition among the nation’s most influential online voices.
Established in 2022, the Content Creator Awards were created to celebrate the storytellers, entertainers, educators, innovators, and trendsetters shaping culture and driving conversations across digital platforms. Over the past four years, the initiative has grown into a respected platform that not only honours creative excellence but also supports the development of South Africa’s creator economy.
As a not-for-profit initiative, the awards remain committed to accessibility, with entry remaining free for all categories except one agency-focused award. The goal is to ensure creators from all backgrounds have an opportunity to gain industry recognition and professional growth.
According to founder Manuela Dias de Deus, who also leads the award-winning agency One-eyed Jack, today’s content creators are much more than influencers. They are entrepreneurs, brand builders, storytellers, and cultural drivers whose impact extends across industries.
The 2026 awards feature a diverse range of categories, including the Cars.co.za Automotive Content Award, Emerging Creator Award, Trendsetter Award, Impact Creator Award, Expert Voices Award, Thumb-Stopping Award, Style Icon Award, Dance Award, Best Creator x Brand Collaboration Award, Excellence in Branded Content Award, Wildcard Award, Best Online Series Award, and the prestigious Creator of the Year Award.
Winners will receive prize packages valued at R10,000, while selected categories will include cash prizes of up to R20,000. Organisers have also confirmed that five new categories will be unveiled in the coming weeks through partnerships with new sponsors.
A key focus for 2026 is recognising creators as business owners and entrepreneurs. This year’s entry process places greater emphasis on measurable impact, successful collaborations, client testimonials, and professional achievements, reflecting the continued evolution of the creator industry.
The awards also promote responsible digital publishing through support of the South African Content Creator Charter and alignment with industry standards established by the Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) and the Advertising Regulatory Board (ARB).
Entries opened on 14 May 2026 and will close on 28 June 2026. Industry workshops and networking sessions will take place during July, with the awards ceremony scheduled for October 2026.
Creators aged 18 and older are encouraged to submit entries across multiple categories and join the conversation using the hashtag #ContentCreatorAwardsSA as the countdown to South Africa’s biggest creator celebration begins.
