R750 Million Conference Centre and Hotel Unveiled in Waterfall City, Gauteng
A major milestone for South Africa’s hospitality and business events sector has been reached with the announcement of a R750 million investment into a new Conference Centre and Hotel in Waterfall City, Gauteng. This ambitious development is a strategic collaboration between Attacq Limited and Rabie Property Group, combining proven expertise with a forward-looking vision.
A Decade of Proven Excellence Inspires Expansion
Drawing from over ten years of success at the Century City Conference Centre, the new Waterfall City development aims to replicate and scale a model that seamlessly integrates conferencing and hospitality within a mixed-use precinct.
Leon Cohen, Group Chairman of Rabie Property Group, highlighted how this model transforms developments into economic engines, driving sustained activity and growth beyond traditional venue offerings. By partnering with Attacq, the group aims to bring this success to one of Gauteng’s fastest-growing nodes.
Strengthening Waterfall City’s Position
According to Attacq CEO Jackie van Niekerk, the project reflects the company’s commitment to long-term value creation and disciplined growth. The Waterfall City precinct has already established itself as a highly connected and future-ready destination, attracting leading businesses and investment.
This new conference centre and hotel marks a natural evolution in enhancing the precinct’s offering, reinforcing its status as a premier hub for commerce, lifestyle, and global connectivity.
Introducing African Rain Collection
The expansion also signals the launch of African Rain Collection, a new hospitality portfolio designed to manage and grow assets across both Gauteng and the Western Cape.
Led by CEO Gary Koetser, African Rain Collection represents a strategic shift from managing a single destination to overseeing a broader, multi-city portfolio. The Waterfall City Conference Centre and Hotel will serve as its flagship development in Johannesburg, extending the legacy built in Cape Town.
World-Class Facilities for Business and Leisure
The development is set to deliver exceptional scale and versatility, featuring:
- Capacity for 1,350 delegates in a single venue
- Up to 2,000 delegates across 16 flexible event spaces
- Open-air venues for outdoor events
- A 180-room hotel with apartments
- All-day dining restaurant and private dining spaces
- Wellness facilities including a gym, spa, and swimming pool
Every aspect of the design has been carefully planned to maximise operational efficiency while delivering a premium guest experience for both business and leisure travellers.
Built for the Future
Sustainability, safety, and connectivity are at the core of the project. Designed as part of Waterfall City’s broader vision, the development integrates resilience and long-term planning into every layer—from infrastructure to guest experience.
Koetser emphasised that the facility is engineered for performance, ensuring it meets the evolving demands of the global events industry while maintaining the highest standards of quality and security.
