South African media personality and creative entrepreneur Kim Jayde has reached a major international milestone, as her independently produced web series “Kickin It With Kim Jayde” has been officially selected for the Diversity in Cannes Short Film Showcase.
The prestigious showcase, which runs alongside the globally renowned Cannes Film Festival in France, selected Kim Jayde’s project from over 200 entries submitted by creatives across 25 countries and five continents. The independent event is sponsored by EGOT-winning actress and producer Viola Davis, co-founder of JuVee Productions, further highlighting the global significance of the platform.

According to Kim Jayde, the series will form part of the virtual showcase beginning 18 May giving international audiences access to her work and the stories she has passionately brought to life.
Taking to Instagram, the media star expressed deep gratitude to the organisers and collaborators who contributed to the journey. She acknowledged platforms and teams such as Black Women Cannes and Diversity in Cannes for recognising her work, as well as the guests and crew who helped shape the series.

Kim Jayde also reflected on the personal significance of the achievement. As a proudly African woman of colour who independently financed, directed, and produced an entire international season of the show, she described the selection as both surreal and deeply validating.
Her words resonated as a message of inspiration to aspiring creatives, encouraging them to pursue their ambitions unapologetically. For her, the moment stands not only as a personal victory but as a symbol of what is possible when passion, persistence, and storytelling intersect on a global stage.

The recognition of “Kickin It With Kim Jayde” at such a respected international platform signals a growing spotlight on African voices in global entertainment—proving that authentic stories from the continent continue to break boundaries and capture the world’s attention.
