The Librarians: The Next Chapter marks a thrilling return to the world of magic, mystery, and high-stakes adventure, premiering on Sunday, 4 January 2026, on Universal TV (DStv Channel 117). Fans across Africa can tune in at 18:20 (CAT), with new episodes airing every Sunday in a weekly double bill.

A spinoff of the much-loved hit series The Librarians, this new action-adventure drama delivers a fresh and exciting twist on the franchise’s signature blend of ancient artifacts, secret knowledge, and daring missions. The Next Chapter expands the universe while staying true to the humour, heart, and fantasy that made the original series a fan favourite.

The story centres on a Librarian from the past who unexpectedly time-travels to the present day, only to find himself stranded in a world he barely recognises. When he returns to his ancient castle—now operating as a public museum—he accidentally unleashes dangerous magic across the continent. Tasked with fixing the chaos he’s caused, he’s assigned a new team, setting off an epic quest to track down rogue magical artifacts and restore balance to a modern world suddenly overflowing with sorcery.

The series stars Callum McGowan (Jamestown, Raven’s Hollow), Olivia Morris (Hotel Portofino, Rise Roar Revolt), Bluey Robinson (Cats, Britannia), Jessica Green (Roman Empire, The Outpost), and Caroline Loncq (No Offence, Nightflyers). Together, the cast brings charisma, emotional depth, and action-packed energy to a gripping 12-episode arc.

Behind the scenes, The Librarians: The Next Chapter is executive produced by Dean Devlin, Marc Roskin, and Rachel Olschan-Wilson, the creative minds behind the original series and several beloved genre hits, ensuring the spinoff remains true to its roots while boldly moving forward.

Don’t miss the magic when The Librarians: The Next Chapter premieres on 4 January at 18:20 on Universal TV, with back-to-back episodes every Sunday until 8 February 2026.

Universal TV is available on DStv Channel 117 across Africa.
