CottonFest Comes to an End

**RIKY RICK’S COTTON FEST COMES TO AN END…

THE END OF AN ERA SET TO LAUNCH NEW BEGINNINGS**

It is a bittersweet moment for South African music and culture lovers as the organisers of CottonFest announce that the beloved festival has officially come to an end. After years of celebrating creativity, youth culture, and artistic expression, the festival will not continue under its current structure.

Earlier this year, the announcement of the 2026 CottonFest sparked excitement online. However, behind the scenes, differences among the shareholders began creating internal disputes. After thorough evaluation, it became clear that the parties no longer shared the same long-term vision—making it difficult to uphold the standard and purpose set by CottonFest’s founder, Riky Rick.

“CottonFest has always been rooted in creativity, community and cultural celebration focused on creating a platform for the youth to shine. While we are proud of what the festival has achieved and grateful for the immense support over the years, the differences in vision have made it clear that concluding this chapter is the most realistic path forward.”

Bianca Naidoo, festival owner and organiser, shared heartfelt words reflecting on the festival’s mission and legacy:

The decision, while difficult, was made in the best interest of the team, partners, staff, collaborators, and the community that has supported the festival for over seven years. Bianca, together with the Makhado family, also expressed deep appreciation for everyone who contributed to CottonFest’s growth and to keeping Riky Rick’s legacy alive.

Although CottonFest’s physical festival has come to a close, its spirit will live on. The Creative Programme, launched in 2025, will continue empowering young talent through ongoing opportunities and initiatives throughout the year. The organisers remain optimistic about future ventures aimed at championing youth creativity in new and meaningful ways.

For now, the chapter closes—but the legacy continues to inspire.
