Power, Presence, Precision: beatsbyhand – SANDF
Following the success of SARS and SAPS, South African producer beatsbyhand returns with SANDF, the next chapter in his uniquely conceptual sonic series. Released through Stay True Sounds, the track continues his mission to explore rhythm, tension, and identity within South Africa’s ever-shifting electronic scene.

Fusing Amapiano’s hypnotic pulse, Gqom’s raw intensity, and Afro-tech’s sharp precision, SANDF strikes a bold balance between underground edge and polished production. Deep logdrums, tight percussion, and brooding tonal choices give it a darker, more forceful character — a natural evolution in the trilogy.
“I was after that 3-step, hard-hitting logdrum sound; the drums came first, and the theme followed later. Using the Phrygian mode gave it a darker, tense edge that just made sense as the next chapter after SARS and SAPS.”
Speaking on the creative process, beatsbyhand explains:
While the title continues his playful run of South African acronyms, SANDF stands as a statement of its own — a track built for the dance floor, rooted in local identity, and unmistakably stamped with beatsbyhand’s technical mastery. With its heavy basslines and precise sound design, the release further cements him as one of the most innovative voices sculpting the country’s electronic future.
