The wait is almost over — Outlaws Season 2 is set to premiere on Showmax on 17 November and on Mzansi Magic on 22 November, promising even more drama, loyalty, and revenge. One of the show’s standout stars, Lehlohonolo Mayeza, returns as the captivating Leruo Ts’eole, whose journey in Season 1 left fans on the edge of their seats.
In an exclusive conversation, Mayeza opens up about how fame has changed his life, the overwhelming love from his home country, Lesotho, and what viewers can expect from Leruo’s emotional journey in the new season — including his evolving relationships with both his lover and his nemesis.
The Weight of Fame
Since the success of Outlaws Season 1, Mayeza admits that fame has brought both blessings and challenges.
“Fame has both its advantages and drawbacks. People stop seeing you as a regular person. There’s this pressure to live up to an idealised version of who they think you are,”.
he explains
From fans fighting to take photos at public appearances to expectations about his lifestyle, Mayeza has had to navigate the realities of celebrity. Still, he says portraying Leruo opened new doors — including ambassadorial opportunities and a platform to inspire the youth.
“One of my goals has always been to motivate the youth and the less privileged. With the success of Outlaws, I can now inspire others to never give up on their dreams,”.
he says proudly
Homegrown Pride in Lesotho
For Mayeza, who hails from Lesotho, the love from home has been humbling.
“I didn’t expect the kind of support I got from my people! I’ll never forget being in the deep mountains, herding with other boys, and hearing them celebrate how I represented them. That moment made me feel so proud.”
Leruo’s Emotional Battles in Season 2
Without giving away spoilers, Mayeza hints that Leruo’s journey this season is one of heavy responsibility and emotional tension.
“He finds himself responsible for two significant people in his life while still balancing his loyalty to the gang. It’s a lot to carry.”
The actor says Season 2 challenged him creatively and emotionally, crediting the directors for pushing him to new heights.
On-Screen Chemistry and New Love
Season 2 introduces a new chapter for Leruo’s love life, as Noluthando Ngema takes over the role of Sihle.
“Noluthando is an incredible actress. Working with her made the process smoother, and I learned so much from our scenes together,”.
says Mayeza
The evolving chemistry between Leruo and Sihle promises to be one of the most anticipated dynamics of the new season.
Rivalries and Brotherhood
Leruo’s fierce rival, Tladi — played by Keketso Mpitso — remains a fan favourite. Mayeza praises Mpitso both as a performer and as a person.
“Keketso is my brother from another mother. On set, we’re always laughing. He’s the total opposite of Tladi — humble and caring. Working with him has been one of the greatest experiences of my career.”
Lessons, Growth, and Gratitude
Reflecting on his journey, Mayeza says Outlaws has shaped him far beyond acting.
“The experience strengthened me mentally, physically, and emotionally. It taught me discipline and how to adapt to different environments, especially as a foreigner in South Africa.”
From firearms training to grueling heat on set, every challenge has contributed to his growth — and his commitment to his craft shows in every scene.
As Outlaws Season 2 prepares to debut, fans can expect deeper character development, explosive confrontations, and heartfelt moments that push Leruo to his limits. With Lehlohonolo Mayeza leading the charge, the new season promises to be nothing short of captivating.
